Well ... it's been 2 years, but it's finally complete. Earlier this year I open-sourced Mischief in Paradise to the community in hopes someone would either finish or iterate on what I initially had started.
Chimella took up the challenge and has finished the level. He took it from being just an SP Map to a full fledged Mod. Amazing if you ask me - and he even maintained the original storyline.
So here you are folks. May I present Mischief in Paradise. It's been a long time coming - now it's here for you to play. Enjoy.
Played it today. Very nice. I did get some really low framerates at one point with multiple choppers near the hanger, and I have a OCed 3700+, 7900GT and 2 gigs of RAM playing at 1024x768. An enjoyable map though, I will probably play it again.
The harbor part of the level you're experiencing the slow-down is simply because of the shear number of objects on the screen and in that area. It's pretty heavy. You should have seen the FPS when I had the open door model of the hanger as part of the level. Crazy slow.
Yes, beautiful project, thanks for the hard work you guys put into it. Really loved the trick jump/Hummer ride to get aboard the ship and the modified weapons. Firing the rockets off the P Boat & Hummers with a stealth silenced sound was so cool, and the shotguns so powerfull. I must have knocked one of the mercs about 50 feet into the water from point blank range while lying prone in a tent in that first camp, it was amazing.
The only slight oddities I noted were a gunship flying right down at/into me as well as a cargo container just before the jump to the ship. It was sort of clipping into things as it flew low. There was also a barrel spinning wildly on it's end in the building next to the generators. It seemed to go away upon reloading the checkpoint though, so it didn't affect gameplay at all really.
