After starting mapping with Sandbox, I also noticed that you can do some neat things with the "Far Cry\DevMode.lua" file, that Far Cry will load in Developer Mode (via FarCry.exe -DEVMODE, Warning: When in developer mode, all levels will also be unlocked!).

These are the new key bindings and functions, that will then be available in-game:

Key Effect
--- ------
I AE Only give AEon's fav weapons (RL, Sniper, OICW, Machete), Binoculars, Light & Heatvision
Todo: also get ammo right away
 P All weapons
O 999 ammunition for that weapon and weapon mode
 K AE Increase walk/run speed
L AE Decrease walk/run speed (Less)
N AE Return to default speed (Normal)
V Toggle noclip = fly mode (same as F4)
BS AE Toggle god mode (invincibility)

F1 AE Toggle display info (i.e. FPS, Polycounts, etc.), save relocate position for screenshot mode
 F2 Move to next checkpoint
 F3 Spawn point
 F4 Toggle noclip

F5 (Save Game (any time as it seems).) NO WORKIE
 F6 AE Show Debugger (UNTESTED)
F7 Toggle AI: Information (paths, nodes...)
F8 AE Toggle AI: Bots ignore player and sound perception

F9 AE (Load Game) NO WORKIE
F10 AE Old: Toggle screenshot mode (Turns off HUD, Toggles AI)
F11 AE New: Toggle screenshot mode (Turns off HUD, does NOT toggle AI, use F8 for latter)

Download: AEons_DevMode_lua.zip (3.7 KB) (Disclaimer: Edited DevMode.lua file provided as is, use at your own risk.)

Installation: Backup the original "Far Cry\DevMode.lua" by renaming it "Far Cry\DevMode-org.lua", then copy this file into the main "Far Cry\" folder. Far Cry will then load up this changed file, when -DEVMODE is used.

Usage: Start the game with the -DEVMODE command line parameter. Then, press one of the above shortcut keys during game play to activate the corresponding cheat function.

Note: In-game you may have already bound some of the below keys, to make the DevMode shortcut work you may have to delete the in-game binding first.

Tip: For some fun single player games, start Far Cry (new account) on Veteran skill, then in first map (Training), turn off AI detection with F8, turn on god mode (Backspace), hit F11 (full screen mode, no HUD), and just walk through the map enjoying the wonderful scenery and watch/listen to the Mercs. Note you will have to hit F8 two times, at the beginning of every single player map, since Far Cry resets the AI on map load.

Hope that helps.

Hehe OK I admit it I'll be using this Smile

I wanna go through the game to see everything and see what the engine can do, but I find it so hard and frustrating, getting shot at from every angle just my idea of fun. Now I'll have my revenge! Mwuahahahhaah

One word: Machete Wink2

At the time I was not aware of the exact console commands to manipulate the AI, but I think one can do all the above by hand. But why bother if you already have it bound to a key Smile

Good job AE-on, some neat stuff there.

I can confirm that it works fine to open the debugger from devmode.lua, but I did not find it very useful since you will break in some random loop/callback.

Its better to use the ShowDebugger function in the code to simulate a breakpoint for variable inspection etc. Plus it catches and point out run time errors for free, I really dont see how anyone would wanna script a single line without the debugger...

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything, I'm just a lua debugger fanboi and wanted to lobby a bit for it Hammer

3.Copy and paste this "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE into it
4. press apply and start it up!

to stop using devmode:

hey i did all of what the instructions told me and when i start up the game and play it, none of the buttons (i.e. backspace, F4, etc.) do their specific function. i changed the original devmode file and i copied the new one in, and i added -DEVMODE to the target line. any ideas?
