I have tried for days now but cannot get past the section where I paraglide onto the island and have to blow up the satelite dish . I think their may be some hidden explosives somewhere but I can't find anything apart from those yellow drums in the cave above but I can't move those either.
What do I have to do to blow the dish up '?

You have to roll those barrels down by bumping into them. As I recall you only need one. By the way if do a search on devils island you will get a few hits including:

I found an easier way . Throw 4 grenades at the metal support base ,making sure they land real close and then blow up the barrels behind and the whole lot comes down .

By the way-the above responses were all good ideas(except for solidsnork's brilliant contribution). If I remember correctly..anything explosive will bring it down. I used the rifle with the grenade launcher-shot it 2 or 3 times out of frustration and down it came ! Good luck.
