Administration's war on Fox News a ratings boon for network.

by Rick Moran

Never pick a fight with someone who already owns the largest slice of cable news audience. (Also don't pick a fight with someone that buys ink by the barrel).

I asked earlier:
quote:
What are the rest of the US media saying?

I suppose it is a bit early in the day yet, but the answer seems to be 'not a lot' - knowing journalists, if they saw this as a genuine issue of media freedom, they'd be kicking up a stink by now. Perhaps they actually think that the White House is right in its assessment of Fox News, but don't want to be seen taking sides?

All fine and dandy, but no one can say that MSNBC isn't just as vitriol induced and off the mark as FOX is in their commentary.

Na...hardly. They certainly have a left word bent but they aren't totally bent like Fox.

Hello! Kieth Olberman? Rachel Maddow? They're just as bad, but lack the same experience as O'Rielly and Hanity.

The only guy I can stomache out of all those shows is Huckabee and I don't even know if he's still on...... Well except for the hottie with the great legs on Sunday Afternoon. I think her names Guillfoile or sumething like that. She's better than beer commercials on Football Sunday.

Fact: All news media outlets tell you what they want you to hear.

Fact: All news media outlets have their own bias, many to the left.

Fact: This will never change until the masses wisen up and quit tuning in to these so-called news media outlets.

Fox News is obnoxious garbage and is basically the propaganda wing of the GOP, but I do wonder what the point of going after them is, it will just make them cry about being victimized and bullied more than usual. Going after the New York Times didn't work out well for Nixon.

actually K/H and R/M back up their stories with real info knight. Something Fox rarely if ever does.

Have you ever seen K/O and R/m take completely apart Fox news commentators by taking actual real information on what these fox 'news people" are commentating on and completely destroying their arguments in about five seconds?

Happens all the time.

ever read the story from a former Fox news person who ADMITTED THE FOX NETWORK NEWS WAS GIVEN ORDERS FROM THE TOP DOWN ABOUT WHATS STORIES WhERE TO BE COVERED AND WHAT BIASED SLANT WAS TO BE GIVEN TO THEM?

true story.

the former employee admitted Fox is given orders right from the top on what they want to see "handled" and how..

Having a 'reputable' news source makes the whole issue moot don't it. I do like their reporting as well.

As far as RC and KO, stalker. I'm the type of guy that if I don't like someone I won't give them the time of day..... especially if there are other options to get what I need. When you got comments regarding the most hated (or is that evil, I forget) man in America and yelling diatribes on a point it's hard to take them serious. Those two as well as the Fox commentators do nothing for me except to stir my stomache into evacuation mode. So to be honest I've never listened to them dismantle an argument by Fox.

SHOLD the OP's post be true I think we're on a slippery slope, and that's my objection. There will come a time (if true) that the other side will get their 1st Ammendment hampered. That's what should scare all of us.

Educate, illuminate, but don't obliterate. Ignorance in all forms needs to be seen for what it is. Locking it away will encite natural curiosity and give strength to their cause. Illuminate and you show the fool hattery they are known for. This applies to both sides.

AGREED, hence my comment about Hugo Chavez

White House communications director Anita Dunn recently said the following about Fox News:

quote:
What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party, They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is.

taking pot shots at ANY news outlet is political suicide. because the furthur along in this administration we go the more the love afiar fades, then the "main stream" news orgs will stop being as forgiving of what they do. then the question will be will they turn on them also. the DNC has already tried to stifle the right by introducing the quote Fairness doctrine, so the question is what is next?

Anita Dunn is being used as an expendable, since I believe she is due to step down soon (I could not verify this). So when this stunt fails, she can be flushed down the john.

Here was an interesting comment about the story linked below.

"Why do liberals only believe in free speech when they agree with what you are saying? If they disagree, they just want you to SHUT UP or they will threaten to SHUT YOU DOWN. Scary. The other news orgs are so in the tank for the liberal agenda, Fox just looks bizarre to them. However, most Americans aren't stupid - hence the ratings. (Liberals think anyone who doesn't think like they do is stupid, too, btw)."

In reply to Hyate.....

I'm not in line with this thought, but I can't help tossing a bit of gas on the fire. I keep hoping that instead of running into rabble rousing party lined shouting matches there will one day be honest debate that leads to a commited solution.

While I support the document signed 230 odd years ago, many things have changed. Ignoring that makes us stale and hard. We're gonna break with this attitude.
