Sometimes I feel like an archeologist when I think I've found the perfectly preserved Great British pub and its' inhabitants. Rare finds indeed nowadays. Future generations will only find them in history books and documentaries.

Have you been to The Fox Inn at Corscombe, Low-Flyer?
Off the A356 towards Crewkerne. A place to sit and soak!

Sounds like my type of place...

Country pubs are great, but the problem is getting back home again.

Much more of a loner as I get older.I am working hard to become a cantankerous old git, then I might start going out again and scowl at young people having fun.

Hey, the Fox is the symbol of our County, Leicestershire!

I`ll have the `70s purple suit as well though. Having a foxy face makes up for it. Big Grin

Socialite, depending on the circumstances. Definitely not a loner.

I'm a loner but sometimes I can get really crazy "never go home" mentality.

Odd how many say "loner" yet here they are cruising the forum(s) interacting with others, some chatting away in chat rooms, others emailing, and naturally participating fully on HL many using comms, going to aircraft shows, etc..

Sounds more to me like very social people simply finally having found others with a common interest so can finally be the social person they always were.

People "want" to be thought of loners as they find security and believe it to be a position of leadership and strength........Fact of the matter is most loners are "outcasts" because they can't deal with others they should be able to well, and so simply focus their lives on solitary things.

If you responded to this thread you're not a loner.....That includes the initiator who is one of the more social people here.

I have been drunk, thrown up and p*sssed on some of the Worlds greatest Cities.... These days my Liver no longer resembles the Rugby Ball of my early years... As a member of the RAF one was expected to party hard and drink harder..... who was I to disagree.....

Today the behavior we took as Normal in the RAF would be deemed as "Lager Louts"....... we as "lager louts" of today do, collected a myriad of souvenirs of our epic journies through the alcoholic haze of life.... Though in the RAF we tried to do it in style, sometimes biting off more than we could chew.....

we succesfully got one blighter off its plinth and halfway to the truck that was to liberate it before getting disturbed, dropping it on the lawn and having to scatter..
It was either the Starfighter below or a Sabre or G91 I think...memories pickled there

We eventually settled for a wing that some fools left unattended, the German Squadron on Detachment with us liberated the other and that ended its life as an outdoor bar table in Decimmannu....

These days a bottle of wine curled up in front of the Box suffices, though I can still when I get the urge drink into double figures beer wise, though it is a rarity.. Smile

Loner - I enjoy getting out on my Harley and riding in the mountains by myself. No phone, no company... I have two friends I call every six months just to keep in touch. Otherwise I don't like dealing with people.
