I was given a watch from my boss. On the face, its an Omega automatic Seamaster De Ville
On the back, it has a seahorse logo with Seamaster written on an arc on top of the logo On the edge where the band would attach to the acual watch it has the number 70. im trying to get a good pic of it. Ill post it as soon as I can get a decent enough shot of the watch |

i found a watch once and from what i remember, there was a kind of a circle on top of it, divided by twelve signs and protected by a glass.
three pointer-like needles had been adjusted in the middle, and one of them was constantly moving from sign to sign. same did the other pins, but much slower. the people, whom i have shown the watch, suggested it had to do with the time of day, since it needed about a full cycle for the smallest pin from sunrise till dawn. however, it was not very accurate, as it never showed full accordance to daylight... i think, i have it stored in the attic. i can search for it, and have a look if it is the same kind of device? _____________________ deepo of "homeoputes" lapinot, #17 @ simairracing.com |

"Seamaster" and "DeVille" seem to be different lines of Omega.

on a more serious note, a very short description of the 'seamaster de ville' can be found at omega's site:
http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=492 if you open the back, you can check the calibre-no. (all are give unique identifiers), and search for the individual watch at omega's site (however, the catalogue is not complete). a picture of the 'seamaster de ville' is also found at wikipedia's entry for 'omega sa'. you can find a discussion of vintage owners about 'seamaster de ville' or 'geneva' (in german, but with pictures) at: http://uhr-forum.de/omega-vint...r-oder-geneve-t24636 _____________________ deepo of "homeoputes" lapinot, #17 @ simairracing.com |

I followed the links for Seamaster and DeVille, neither appears under the other... I don't doubt you though, you're looking right at it. I'm pretty good with watches/gadgets, though I'm sure there those on here that could shame me. Are you wondering how much beer you can hawk it for? Good hunting, Cajun76 Magnum-PC.comCheck it, bleed. the 'seamaster de ville' has been manufactured between '63-69'.
some of the calibres have been used for different models and it might have been that the dial have been replaced (rarely and shouldn't be the case). so to be absolutely sure, which kind of watch you have, you need the reference number (like 'XX 11.111'), usually as imprint inside the back in combination with the calibre-no. (usually on the calibre however, you should be safe to assume to have a 'seamaster de ville'... even if there is a slight chance of a fake, this can be ruled out depending on when the former owner has got it. i very much like my two 'longines' pocket watches, which still work like a charm. and the design of the 60s 'omega's is just beautifully pure. _____________________ deepo of "homeoputes" lapinot, #17 @ simairracing.com |

Nice watch, if all the parts are original it could be worth a few $$$. A collector once told me that many vintage watches have parts from different models in them. It doesn't make them bad watches per se, but like vintage cars, an 'all stock' model will be more valuable.
I have the watch that used to belong to the pilot on the cover of the May 4th, 1942 issue of Life magazine. I thought about restoring it but I may just donate it to a museum. Good hunting, Sillius_Sodus |
