You know....I think I'm with Andy on this one.

Dornier CD-2 amphib (though I'd probably go with a different registration than he wants Wink)

Of course, that's only because the rich uncle won't get me one of these: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wi...r_Do_24_ATT_vl_2.jpg

Well if we are looking at the million buck range then I'm going for a P-40 or a Jug. I'd love an Emil but think they cost more.

Sorry FSM, my imaginary billionaire cousin specified no warbirds - he thinks we'd break them...

Man, the market seems cornered on the amphibians here...

The Be-103 looks promising, I don't really care for the parasols with all those struts on some other amphibians, but I do like the fact the Seastar is 50mph faster. Soo hard to choose...

If your into bug-eyed biplane goodness, an AN-2 with a decadent Western interior upgrade would be awesome...

In a welcome move, the Beaver is back in production and would be a dream come true for many.

Ooops, wrong kind of Beaver. Blush

Ooooh nice, Cajun. Thumbs Up

I hadn't seen the Beriev Be-103 before. Looks interesting.

The AN-2 and Beaver have their good points too, though neither would look as pretty parked on your lawn/duckpond.

Edit--------

Just seen this:

Oh dear, you're right. I hadn't realised Sad Eyes

The Be-103 would probably do as a substitute, though I'm not sure if it has the range I'm after. Still, stopping to refuel shouldn't be that difficult.

Otherwise it will have to be a floatplane anphibian, by the looks of it, though none of them have the looks.

Well, I've had a chance to catch several lectures about seaplanes by Dornier's former head of design.

The Seastar generally is a 25yr old design.
It has superior handling-characteristics and performance-data over any modern similar-sized amphibian, though.

If it had to be floats (bad choice for handling blue-water ops, though), I'd be in for the DHC-2...can't do anything wrong with this choice Veryhappy
