LMFAO "2.) Is it possible for this vessel to have a refit that would bring it up to current day standards as an operational naval vessel and what would a refit like this cost? When the Russians sold the boat they took care that it wouldn't be used as a "weapon" against them. They removed some parts. This parts we are assured are available. But parts will not come with the craft. The former Soviet block countries are always looking for the contracts for work. This work always makes people happy. We have been assured that the governments would work with us to refit this vessel to a pleasure craft." *cough* pleasure craft *cough* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "You can't blow the smoke from such a majestic stogie in just anyone's face. Hehehe, I remember something about a dea/fbi/cia sting in which an old Russian sub was being acquired to smuggle drugs.

$497,000 USD is so much bull****.
The scrap metal from the sub is probably worth more than that. |

Was just reading about this yesterday, check out the price North Little Rock paid for their decommissioned sub. I plan on visiting, but my son is a little too young at the moment. He'll appreciate it better when he's a little older anyway. Good hunting, Cajun76 =USAF= (Ret) Magnum-PC.comCheck it, bleed. Bro... was ON! Didn't trip. But the folks was freakin', Man. Hey, and the pilots were laid to the bone, Homes. So Blood hammered out and jammed jet ship. Tightened that bad sucker inside the runway like a mother. Sheet. - Airplane II |

Naval vessels do seem to stay in service pretty long don't they? The HMS Victory was already 40 years old when she fought in Trafalgar according to her official site. Of course a sailing ship is not a sub but it seems to be par for the course for ships to have long service lives.

Here in the UK we get through new subs every 10-15 years ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "You can't blow the smoke from such a majestic stogie in just anyone's face.
