How about "The Right Stuff"?
EDIT: Just thought of more. "Jet Pilot", with John Wayne and Janet Leigh, "Strategic Air Command" with Jimmy Stewart, and "By Dawn's Early Light" with Powers Boothe and Rebecca De Mornay. ------------------------------ Flying online as "johnnybassman" "Audentes fortuna juvat" Studio album coming soon! http://www.myspace.com/friendorfoe |

"The Right Stuff" is more about the space race right? I know it deals with the issue of test pilots becoming astronauts, but...I made a judgment call. Their is no combat, or hardware and it doesn't really focus on war stuff...good movie though. Did I miss "Jet Pilot"? I guess I did, but "Strategic Air Command" is number 40. I have not added TV shows and movies yet so I didn't get into stuff like "By Dawn's Early Light". Thanks I'm just a Rock 'n' Roll footnote... |

Man, I could watch Errol Flynn & David Niven's in Dawn Patrol every night for the rest of my life and still want to watch it in heaven or wherever I might be going later on down the road.
I think the best part of that movie is when Errol & the Gang are partying with the captured German Pilot who shot down Nivens & then there's Nivens in the doorway, Flynn just about soils himself & then when explained who he is to the German, the German Hugs Nivens and the party continues. |

1948's "Fighter Squadron" with Edmund O'Brien and Robert Stack flying P-47s
1954's "Men of the Fighting Lady" Korean War carrier action starring Van Johnson, Keenan Wynn and Frank Lovejoy 1957's "Battle Hymn" Korean War flick about Dean Hess flying P-51s training Korean pilots starring Rock Hudson and James Edwards Laugh more often and love harder. Your life will seem easier. |

How could you possibly forget to add to your list:
Flight of The Intruder w/Danny Glover & Willem Dafoe. Does anybody remember a TV Series called "Air Combat" which came out in 1993? Behind Enemey Lines w/Owen Wilson & Gene Hackman Command Decision w/Clark Gable (1949) Air Force (1943) Walter Grauman w/Cliff Robertson (1964) Hannover Street w/Harrison Ford (1979) The War Lover w/Steve McQueen & Robert Wagner (1962) Oh Yeah, Iron Eagle I, II & III |

I guess I forgot "Firefox" (1982) too...but that's what this thread is for. I want to try and compile as complete a list of movies that contains "air battle footage", "air force hardware", "dog fights", "historical details", WW1, WW2, Korea, and anything air combat related, be it drama or "docu-drama" as possible. No documentary's or television (at this time)... I thought of "Hannover Street" but I couldn't remember how much of the movie has aeroplanes in it...and I think I got "Air Force". I'm really interested in the Japanese movies - a different perspective.
Ore wa, kimi no tame ni koso shini ni iku seems to be a modern movie that makes tasteful use of special effects. The planes seem accurate. |
