Fraud investigators are not overly happy with the Afghan elections apparently.
Wonder when we are going to stop supporting corrupt regimes.

Let's see:

  • Weak and corrupt central government...check
  • Hostile or apathetic population...check
  • Highly motivated insurgency...check
  • Bordering nations destabilized, and used as bases by the insurgency...check
  • Other prominent nations have been defeated or given up their conflicts in the region...check

Where have we seen this before?

We need to just get out of there, and let them continue to live in the 7th century.

Tried telling all the right-wingers this years ago, that you cannot build a democracy overnight without any historical development towards such a system as a context.

Wow look, I was right.

The way I see it we should:

  • Withdrawl all regular army troops/advisors/etc. from Afghnaistan.

  • Maintain a relationship with Pakistan and their ISI to keep tabs on the Taliban and continue black operations against Al-Qaeda.

  • Perhaps mediate things between Pakistan and India to garner trust, especially from the the Pakistanis (they are wary of our relationship with India)

Our philosophy should be one of containment through our intelligence resources, and surgical strikes now and again. The Taliban are of no concern as long as they're aren't supporting Al-Qaeda.

If we want to nation build in Afghanistan ( which unlike Iraq has no solid history of having a centralized govt., or any solid identity) we need hundreds of thousands of troops, and huge amounts of money and resources to create a modern infrastructure politically, physically, and culturally.

this is a joke

the election was knowen to be rigged before it even started

Karzai did virtually no electioneering , the western political powers held their breath hoping it could be swept under the table . . . . . . . . what resulted was a ludicrous & botched rigging fraud that was even worse & larger than expected

& its what the US deserve's after reneging on their deal with the taleban before 9/11

the taleban had nearly decided to boot Osama out & could have been bargined with , but no - blood had to be spilt for revenge sake

With all of the reports of election fraud, I'm pretty sure that ACORN have already been in there for quite some time now Smile

On Sept 21st 2001 the Taliban stated in a press conference they were willing to hand over Osama if the FBI would provide them with the evidence that they stated they had.

They never handed it over as they didn't have any.I honestly don't think they went there for revenge.

So now they have to go thru it all again

How many more British (and other Countries Troops) have to die to prop up this corrupt system that we will never sort out before our 'holier than though' western leaders finally realise we cannot win in Afghenistan?
