Man !I cant believe that "Carbon Credits " are going to be the next big thing ...I thought the whole 'Green' agenda was dying out with the recession...maybe not !
Makes you feel like an awfully small cog to read that stuff...

Shows that there is a huge shell game underway. The real players are high finance and the elected officials of both parties with the voters and investors as the dumb dupes mesmerized by a show the real players want them to see, not the real game.

Some of the carbon credit schemes are very little to do with "green" as in environmental conservation and protection and have more to do with the colour "green" as in the colour of US currency.

I hold on to a small glimmer of hope that both economically and environmentally the world will benefit from such a scheme...but no matter what happens the rich guys keep getting richer.

"Ecology" has been converted into a "profit center" exactly like oil.

It's all about Goldman-Sachs' role in the scam + subsidiary players like Al Gore (see page 101).

I'm OK with that so long as it actually leads to positive environmental solutions. I'm not sure that it will...but one can hope.

An ostensible green policy enacted by politicians in cahoots with high finance is to ecology what McDonald's is to nutrition. In other words "rotsa ruck". It will cost the unfortunate citizens a fortune---their energy bills will be the new "profit center". The primary objective of this policy is to create profit, not help the environment. It is just another scam like the three others the author detailed. This scam will have real legs because it is being run in cahoots with people like "Mr Ecology", Al Gore; people who are ostensibly "disinterested" ecologists.

..... Interesting, LM. Golman-Sachs is rapidly coming to resemble Mordor.

BTW, be on the lookout for a recent article describing Du Pont's very active sub-rosa involvement in this whole cap and trade campaign. They expect to see profits of 6 billion dollars by exploiting this legislation. I'll post the weblink if I can track the article down.

Welcome to late Rome.

So, the problem here is that an unscrupulous company reaps profit in an unregulated economy. In Europe, carbon credits work just fine. Is it a tiny possibility that the fault lies with the unregulated economy, and not the carbon credits?

I'm not sure if we Europeans should be too critical just yet. After all, the housing bubble created by those same players in the U.S. sucked in plenty of European institutions.
