I can't beleave how much Vista is ****ing me off, no matter what I do its just tottaly screwed with everything. Microsoft REALLY should made sure there operating system actually worked before realesing it- theres just so many problems with it its unaceptable.

Now everytime I go to use my computer(which I use everyday)I say to my self I wonder what BS Vista is going to give to me today. I guess its like a teacher who has been teaching in Junior/High school for a really long time and dosen't care about there job anymore, and in a monotone/depressed/not careing voice say I wonder what BS excuse the student will give me today for not doing there homework. It goes like this excuse: My dog ate my homework=Vista

And guess what Vista did to me today. I started getting this error about driver nvlddmkm not responding ect... I tried searching to find a fix, and well all I can say is this is definitly gona be a fun one to fix. And in my quest to fix this I tried uninstalling IL2. Guess how long it took- 2HOURS AND A HALF WTF I NEVER had problems like this on Xp Googly Crying Smash Mad

Boss: Your late for work again, you better hav a good excuse!

Vista: Yhea well, umm I beleive it or not I set off to get here early, but as I was driveing past your house I noticed it was engulfed in flames and then saw your wife on the top floor screaming for help. I realized there would not be enough time for the fire department to get so I single handedly saved her myself, reconzing my heroic efforts she damaneded you give me a raise. I also have a not from parents(micr$quash) expalining the full event in detail.

Boss: I divorced my wife 6 six years ago and shortly after she was run over by a truck.
YOUR FIRED!!

Lol

This reminds of my car......its a 22 year old Honda in not particularly good condition and by no means a show winning classic old car. Just a cheap banger (cos im a bit poor at the moment)

Every day I drive it to work the second I turn the ignition key in the morning I wonder what "quirks" it will have. One morning it might be the radio does not work, a headlight does not pop up, the passenger electric window packs up.

The strange thing is the next day there will be a new problem and the problem from the day before has fixed itself. Smash

So when it gets to the weekend when I got time to fix things the problem I have prepared to fix has gone away so any spares or tools I got ready I dont need anymore.

It keeps life interesting though.

I feel your pain alloy, sometimes when pc probs like that happen I just want to pull out my S&W 357 and just shoot holes in the damned thing, or take it outside and do a ritualistic-Office Space style smashing of it in a field somewhere.

You have to think there's something a bit iffy about an OS that comes with a free up, er, downgrade to its predecessor Roll Eyes

I hope you get it stable some time soon

I upgraded to Vista on my game PC at the same time as I upgraded to Leopard OS for my Apple MacBook Pro. Both trashed each respective computer. Leopard is now working superbly and Vista is still crazy. I can say this for Vista---it was probably worth it for DirectX 10, but it is a real pain-in-the-a** OS. I thought XP was brain damage compared to an Apple OS.

I'm going to stick with XP for my game machine until the bitter end. My latest laptop does not have a complete set of XP drivers for the hardware so I'm stuck with Vista. It sucks on a scale that can not be adequately expressed in any human language. It is especially nasty when it comes to older software which I don't feel like spending the $30,000 to upgrade.

I finally shelled out for drive imaging software so I could make an exact copy of the drive at any point in time (and I did many) b/c the many, many, many tiny updates along the way were breaking a lot of the aforementioned older software. I finally figured out that if I installed all my software off the base Vista install and THEN did all the upgrades until there were no more BEFORE ever starting the applications, everything worked. Who knows what will happen with the next round of updates!

For the cheapskates here (and I include myself) there are a number of free products that can do this with various levels of functionality. It is good practice and the availability of external drives make backups of this type much easier to achieve. Some of the drive imaging tools do a good job of compressing partitions in the process.

I haven't upgraded to Vista, but those around me who have vista haven't had any huge problems at all.

My major issue was the price point, which has gotten way more reasonable. Also I have no need at this point, when/if BoB and Blackshark come out, and I need to upgrade my rig I may grab Vista as well.

From a corporate standpoint the only incentives to upgrade are the supposed security enhancements, as MS is continuing xp support until 2014.

I can do without DX10, and I can do without Vista.

Too many bugs for an OS that is supposedly going to be replaced by another one in two years.

I'll stick to XP like I stuck to WIN98. Until I was FORCED to change OS's due to program compatibility issues.

XP may not be perfect. But she works for me.

And you won't upgrade to Vista scince it's really a downgrade, you can downgrade to vista but not upgrade to it- unless your one of the one in a million people that can get it to work properly.(By fluke of course/theres no other way)

I'm getting tired of the OS getting blamed for peoples pc problems, if the OS was truly that messed up EVERYONE would be having problems, but I know many people who have had exactly 0 problems with Vista.

I'll agree that there are many UIP (user induced problems) with Vista. My biggest beef is its often times horrible backwards compatibility and the lack of XP driver support for new hardware that, I believe, was caused by MS's purposely premature announcement of the end of XP support.

Of course, my situation is aggravated by the extremely high cost of the software involved.
