When one image is presented to one eye and a very different image is presented to the other, instead of the two images being seen superimposed, one image is seen for a few moments, then the other, then the first, and so on, randomly for as long as one cares to look. Very small differences between images, however, might yield singleness of vision and stereopsis. In recent years neuroscientists have used neuroimaging techniques and single-cell recording techniques to identify neural events responsible for the perceptual dominance of a given image and for the perceptual alternations.

I can see 2 distinct images of the first one put up and in focus. It helps to cross your eyes (I used to be naturally crosseyed at one time). The problem is, I can't keep from crossing them to much and cannot get a cross.

guys if you have trouble double seeing it use the parlele method: no need for cross eyes:

look to a light source reflected on your screen behind you and youll see it double

i dont know myself even with the cross eyes method which i absolutly hate still see a perfec cross and anarchy symbol

I have an LCD monitor that does not reflect light nor do I have a light source behind it or me.

in last extreme you can paint a close horizontal and staright line in a window withan erasable marker and look through a window youll see it double so you can test this

an ambidestrous guy on this forum sees the cross as good as me but on the other hand others cant see it
