"Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly?
Because Janet Reno is her father." Short joke, but funny. If McCain actually said that, he probably stole it from Saturday Night Live. I remember all the Janet Reno skits back then, even the time Janet showed up in person. Strange stuff for sure. ------------- "Don't pay too much attention on what is said on some net-pages - it's all nerds without social life without a tan." - Bremspropeller |

He is most certainly NOT from Illinois. He was imported here by the Democratic party. He was born in Hawaii and grew up in Indonesia and then Hawaii again. He only moved to Illinois for a few years in 1985 when we was a member of several community organizations in Chicago. He only came back when it was time for him to As someone who has lived most of his adult life in downstate Illinois, I can also tell you Chicago is nothing like the rest of Illinois. In fact, I wish we could draw a 30-mile circle around Cook County and kick it out of the state. Chelsea was pretty scary when her dad was in the White House, but she's not unattractive nowadays. Gotta worry about what her genes are going to do to her later on, though. |

i spent most of 40 years in chicago, for the last ten years ive now been downstate as well, (marion area). i agree that chicago is nothing like down state. but it'd take more than a 30 mile circle around cook county, its a huge county. lol. actually cook county and the 4 surrounding countys (called collar countys)are pretty much the same, and those 5 countys have about 2/3 of the states population if im not mistaken. its sorta hard to believe the other 97 countys only have one third. without them and their taxes, especially corporate taxes (alot of corporte headquarters there, second only to new york i believe) illinois would be small state in population and tax base. would it be a better state, who knows. it sure would be poorer however. as it is now, illinois has a nice balance beteewn rural and urban, as long as everybody can get along. imo its a strength not a weakness. |

Here is some sound reasoning from across the ocean:

"... Hailing from Arizona and Alaska, the Republican ticket has a chance to rekindle a western conservatism different from the old Yankee paternalist sort or the Bible Belt version. They like their guns out there (some still kill their own food) and they are pro-life and deeply pro-America, of course. But at a time of grave challenges, the themes of economic freedom and opportunity, the resistance to the idea that government holds all the answers, could resonate with voters. ... I do not see the difference between the established republicans and the reform republicans. Both share: 1. A social conservative, traditional christian world-view. 2. The idea that man is arbitrary in the environment, that is, that by his abundance and consumption of common natural goods, he does not harm the natural resources he lives from (both oil, water, and atmosphere/CO2). 3. The idea that property is not something that is acknowledged by society but a sacred right, that is, that wealth should never be redistributed for the greater good, but be secured from public access. I wonder how long this can be maintained as it seems that the limits of growth have finally arrived: man grows ever more abundant on earth and the wealth of all western nations is at least in relative decline due to world-wide competition and shortage of ressources (e.g. oil). |

Palin should try Mud pit fighting. She would be great there. As long as she doesn't have to mention how much pure pork her alaskan area got.

I guess if you have to resort to sexist remarks, you have nothing of substance to say.
