My Stuka needs an escort Wink2

This is the Hasegawa 1/32 Scale JU87D-1,flown by
Oberstleutnant Walter Siegel of StG3,Egypt 1942,no aftermarket products used,i just modified the pilot and gunner figures to appear more in keeping with a tropical environment, and replaced the Dinort rods on the 50kgSC bombs with metal pins.

Beautiful Stuka Carts! bow bow bow Fighter escort might take a while! Veryhappy

A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. A little smear on your goggles might hide the plane that was coming in to kill you.

They most definitely will! The finishing supplies plus any pe or resin add on parts will drive up the cost. That's all part of it though. You got a great bargain on the kit so you're doing better than most of us.

Nice work everyone! Nice to see you back JG 2. I was sorry to hear about your Dora. It was looking exceptional and I hope you can salvage it. Nice Stuka Carts - love the paint scheme. I like Sheerluck's S-Boat, Nick's Connie and Bug's Corsair is first rate. I'm sure I'm missing other great work.

It's been a while since I checked in (vacation and kitchen reno). Good to see the thread continue although it seems to have slowed down a bit. Must be summer!

I've declared my Monogram Mustang complete. I added the last few touches back in May and she now awaits a base. Research I've done on the Italian bases in 1944 along the Adriatic show most to be built on pierced steel planking (PSP) so I'd like to incorporate that. I've found some 1/48 scale pre-finshed bases on the net but choked on the price. The base would cost more than the model so I'm trying to think of ways to make it myself. Biggest problem is to get all the holes drilled to look straight and even. Scale is something like 29 holes over about 65 to 70mm. Maybe a sewing machine or a ponce wheel.

If anybody has some ideas or past experience on this chime in!

To cut your psp, a company called Waldron makes a cutter/punch that should be just the thing. You can get it at Walther's or at a model railroad shop.

*edit* Walther's may carry it still, but Waldron retired and Roll Models bought the business and sells them from their website. The price may sound steep at $44, but I've heard guys talk about using this tool for so many things, especially cockpits, for as long as I can remember. Especially good for instrument panels and inspection covers.

Apparently, they're having a heck of a sale on aeromaster paints, too

Now, don't go Navajo, come and let me know, are you all reet?

Here is a piece for beefing up the close-in defence of my static display. No Eduard attached this time. Just an in-between-job to get familiar with armour.

Out of the box, except for the gun-sight that is. I tried some weathering-skills with filters and pencils.

Tamiya alright, but it's the 1/35 scale model. The molds are horrible. Lots of flash and sinkholes. Fitting isn't that good either. But the result is something I like.

I would appreciate some advice.

I'm making a 1/72 Bristol Fighter (Roden Models). The moulding seems good, plenty of detail and sharp lines, but it just won't seem to fit together. There's a gap in a line all the way down the fuselage, and worst of all, the part of the fuselage that separates the pilot from the gunner doesn't meet. I would post pics to show you what I mean, but the camera's in for repairs at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a decent filler that can be easily applied/worked to shape/sanded down afterwards? When I was last building models, some 20 years ago, I used to use Milliput but I was wondering if there's anything better on the market now?

I use the Tamiya putty. Easy to sand in just a sort time after applying. It takes about three layers for a good smooth finnish.
