Nice result nickdanger 3!
I'm not into civil aviation but I like the result. If you put the fan on the props on the last 2 pix it looks like real. |

Now that is a very nice bird Nick! The Cony is still one of my civilian favs. Nice shots too.
Here I have two new shots of my latest projects. First the Italeri SH-60B, a kit my kids gave me on my birthday. I wanted to make a toned down bird and tried pre-shading for the first time. The second one is the Tamiya Brewster. For this one I want to thank Leit who gave me the missing direction-sheets.

@Billy - That's some serious canopy masking!
I gotta do a heli as well. I want to do one from Apocalypse Now - w/surfboard of course! "Anyone who's not interested in model airplanes must have a screw loose somewhere." - Paul MacCready |

It was fun to build a chopper. Although the fit of the Italeri kit was very poor, I managed to fold the tail into storage position. I wanted the Seahawk to look messy and dirty, something else then the usual clean fighters I use to build. Second in this position it takes less parkingspace on display
The Brewster had to be dutch, 'cause I'm dutch myself. And in the future it can match up with the Fokker D.XXI which is still on the stack. |

@B_B, then you should visit the Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg where they have a replica of a Brewster Buffalo. (Free Entrance
There must be a thread about it a few pages ago with some nice pix by (I guess) Heliopause. Question: Did this B-396 actually have a white band, 'cause the photo's and drawings I have seen are without and I don't see the rhino decals by the way. |
|||

Because I used the instructionsheets of Leit, which belonged to another Tam-kit I added the white band before I realised I was building the B-396. But well, it looks nice... |

Top work Billy,you really got the look you were aiming for with the SeaHawk.

I purchased the model on the internet for a bargain, that is without the instructionsheets Total buildingtime is about 25 hours, at the same time I was working on the Seahawk. The kit is straight out of the box, with the exception of the roll-bar in the cockpit which I made from scratch. After spraying the whole model with aluminium and a layer of future I sprayed the camo on the topside. After that I did some chipping for wheathering. Masking of the cockpit was the hard part. For masking I normaly use semi-transparant tape. First I dip the canopy in future and let it dry for 24 hours. Then I cover the whole canopy with tape, glue it on the model with white glue with which I also close the gaps. After that I trim the canopyframe with a REALY sharp knife. Next I spray the interior-color of the frame, usually black and then the final color (also airbrushed, brushing can cause paint running under the tape. But if you use waterbased paint you can carefully remove it with a toothpicker, after it is dry). After all the layers of future and matt-cotes I finally removes the tape with a REALY sharp knife, and wooden tooth-pics. The will not scratch. |

Fantastic work everyone!

Got the nose on! Just need to do some filling and scribing. Still have much work to do on the fuselage.
Here is the actual aircraft I'm building. Is that a rubber seal around the rear of the cowl? I've noticed it on several F model 109's but can't get a real good look at it. I almost sanded this part off of my kit cowl. A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. i have noticed that seal on several photos,but,if memory serves,only on "trops"
Makes sense i suppose with all that grit and sand about.Are you fitting a replacememt nose or sticking with the kit version?I only ask because i use MDC replacements for my 109s,they have a better profile.
