Anyone has any?
Or some good links? Artwork, b/w pics, airshows, color pics - doesn't matter, please keep them coming here I find it very very difficult to find some on the internet especially mark 5 type. I become fan of that formidable plane so I appreciate any input. Need to create myself a good sig and put some nice pics into ww2 warbird collection Thx. |

That's a great site. Ok, not a Tempest, but how about something based off of the Tempest? Here's a pic of a Sea Fury that I took at a local air show last in August:

Awww... cute machine
I've noticed that I have a sweet spot for Hawker machines in WW2... Hurri will probably be my fav fighter in BoB (at least it was back in CFS but that is whole another story |

Have you trid the new hurri mk1 revised, ie a bob hurri. Its in the hsfx package and also the ultrapack and available at sas.
It is my new favorite plane, much more stable gun platform than the spit, and not hamstrung like the oleg mk1 hurri. fruitbat U___1)Nazi Germany built all the best things and won teh war. B___2)The USA built all the best things and won teh war. I___3)Everyone else was cannon fodder |

No, I rarely try any new modded plane simply because I have little space on my HD
Looks nice tho |

LOL! Yeah, she is a beauty. We were able to get pretty close, but no touching sadly. She had a wonderfully deep growl when flying, but I don't think it has the original Centaurus engine, I'm almost positive it's a P&W, but I don't recall exactly. Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Hawker planes as well, specifically the Tempest and it's derivatives. That Sea Fury, getting up close and watching it fly were the high points of my day at that air show. |

Too bad I haven't seen ANY Tempest mark 5 @ the airshows... does anyone knows is there any airworthy Mk.V out there?

I don't think there are any airworthy Tempest mkV out there. If you go to that Tempest page that Ploughman linked to, there is a link called survivors. I saw at least one that is being refurbished.

Sad... I wonder how come not one Tempest survived, being victorious in the war and all that... weird. Spitfire is obviously most loved British fighter...
I'll google Typhoons to see if any is airworthy... but I'm not holding my breath. |
|||
|
Wrong. The British have one, at the RAF Museum. |
||||
|
Plenty probably survived, but the engine was really pushing the limits of what was practical, and after the war, unlike the US situation with R-3350s and -2800s, they probably just felt it wasn't worth keeping any of them around given the maintenance requirements. |

Is it airworthy? I know I'd love to see one fly, but I don't think there are any that are in airworthy condition. |
