As a native New Yorker I'm both saddened and thankfull. Saddened at the shamefull and senseless act of violence perpetrated by men who felt their only avenue of political discourse was to fly innocent men, women AND children into buildings.
But I'm also thankful that my son and his mom walked out of Manhattan that day in one piece albiet covered in death dust. I'm also appalled that when I go to my Department's office on Church Street in lower Manhattan all I see 7 years later is a big hole in the ground. What started out as a monument to man's inhumanity to man is now a monument to man's never ending greed and arrogance as competing interests conspire to make sure they get paid before anything else gets built. I doubt there'll be anything there in 2011 Da Worfster |

The drama of that the day will always have a completely surreal effect on me. I still remember watching live in our conference room at work when Tower 1 came down. I remarked that hundreds upon hundreds of people just got killed in front of our eyes. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.
Moments later we got the news about the Pentagon, which is only 65 miles away. The disbelief was incredible. To think that the Arab world celebrated these events as a great victory... |

That mournful day changed the world and is still changing it. Not for the better, I'm afraid.
Don't be a jerk. Not the place nor the time. @BC: You should change the title to "In memoriam". Not trying to nitpick with Latin, it just looked weird to me being misspelled. |

I'm not trying to be a jerk or to interrupt this thread but I feel it important to point out that this is not exactly the case. The news media did show footage of some Arabs celebrating but they did not show that the vast majority were holding pro-American rallies that day and waving American flags in sympathy for our suffering. I've seen far more footage of Arab peoples crying tears for what happened on this day seven years ago than those shooting AK's in celebration. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flying online as NORAD_Shinjiro |

Yes.. it wasn't the Arab world.. only some segments of it.. including parts of the segment in Dearborn Michigan.. but there was much support.. I believe Iran was very supportive if I remember correctly.. |

Was working indirectly for JC Penny at the time, here in the UK, we were all sent home after the first strike, what I saw on the TV when I got home will stay with me always. RIP.

Won't forget that day. My alarm clock turned on the radio at the time I needed to get out of bed.. Thought I was dreaming when I heard what was going on. |

R.I.P
I was working at a turboprop engine overhaul shop doing inventory when I heard the announcement on the radio that the WTC was hit by a passenger jet. Honestly, my first reaction was "holy crap, some ATC worker is DEFINATELY gonna get fired." Then the second plane hit and thats when I guessed something BIG was going down. My boss closed up the shop and told us to go home to our families. _______________________________ Proudly Flying as VMF-214_Prop in Hyperlobby |
