I was given this a while ago by my grandfather and i now want to convert it to a pedal for my guitar. Obviously i dont want to do this if its valuble or rare or whatever. Thing is i dont know what it is, so i come to you, to ask what it is. Any ideas? Lies, sanctions, and cruise missiles have never created a free and just society. Only everyday people can do that. I did google for cm98 mk1, A couple of results came up, the tin often is listed with mortars/artillery pieces that are for sale, for holding spare washers, strings and pins.
This page has it listed as an artillery small parts tin. |

Speaking off the cuff, just as an observation, I would say those are little boxes with red X's in the middle of them. Without charts, graphs and tracks, I cannot say definitively, but that would be my best guess.
I hope this has been of some assistance. |

Now One Man's Valuable Object is Another Man's Piece of Junk. (1) It Came From World War II - So Not Only is it a Piece of History, But it is Valuable to Someone, if Not To You. (2) Your Grandad Gave it To You - It Was Valuable Enough to Keep it All These Years & He Thought Enough of You to Hand it Down to You, Thinking YOU Might Cherish it as He Had, No Matter What it Might Be. So Before You Melt it Down into Something That Only YOU Will Find a Use For, Send it To Me, For I Will Cherish it, Just The Way That Grandad Wanted YOU To Cherish it. |

Odin, my grandfather didnt collect it during the war, it was found in a charity shop. It has been briefly used as a background display in my primary school and has since languished in my desk drawer. It will never be placed in a museum and it will never be a significant historical object, unless a market for damaged button/pin/strings/oddbodds tins develops significantly.
This way it can be used constructively, its not going to be melted down, it will have 3 small holes drilled in it. Lies, sanctions, and cruise missiles have never created a free and just society. Only everyday people can do that. Zack De La Rocha Do some good today http://www.freerice.com/ |
