It's a natural progression I suppose, but when BoB comes out, I'll get it and install it.
I'll then try the missions and campaigns, and fly online. I'll meet my friends online, as they also play BoB. IL2 will sit on my hard drive, watching with jealousy as I play with my new software. But wait, I'll come back and launch IL2, and compare it. I'll then visit my old servers, and see that the online pool of players has been diluted as the new-boy becomes friends with them. And as the new expansion packs come out, I'll install them, and play, as IL2 watches at the window, withe rain falling across the pain, wishing he could come out to play, and slowly, and surely he'll become a recluse, waiting for the fateful day that he is sent away from home to the great digital graveyard in the sky of abandon ware My friend of so many years, gone, but not forgotten.....? Well, maybe, but at least my rig can run IL2 with all the goodies turned on full at 1920x1200!! So sit tight old friend, because you're always invited to the table, while the bloated new kid on the block has his hair cut and clothes fitted so that he can be accepted by all the PC's....lol IL2: Forgotten............NEVER! One game to rule them all...... cheers, MP |

I'll still fly IL2 even after BoB.. Just because there are aircraft that I'll need my fix of that won't be in BoB.
Also depends on how much multi player will be up and running... even if the AI in BoB is better than IL2's- It still won't beat getting my sorry butt shot down online. Plus- I figure that there will still be plenty of dedicated IL2 fliers who don't have the P.C to handle BoB. |

I always figured that I could never get rid of il2,but I said that about all my old games, and I don't play those anymore.I think as SoW/BoB matures,il2 will fall by the wayside, and if SoW lives up to its promise,il2 might start looking pretty old pretty quickly.

I eagerly await being faced with that situation.

Eh, IL2 by now is not what it used to be anymore. It's still fun at times, but it's way past it's time by now. The fascination is gone, so is the immersion. I mean, this game is 7 years old.
It was a great expirience, it's the only game I play to this day after such a long time. But, once something new is around, I will dig in and IL2 will get its deserving place on the shelf. Bewolf Never discuss with stupid people. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |

For me this sim has gotten a shot in the arm.. I have always enjoyed it.. now I enjoy it even more... and as long as the SoW enhgine has no Mustangs to fly...

With the Korean war sim looming on the horizon you may get your Mustangs "sooner then later"... For me its waiting on the Pacific Theater aeroplanes that may keep me in "1946" longer then I might wish. I'm just a Rock 'n' Roll footnote... |

Yeah, that F-51 from Galba looks divine, a total hotrod.

Sure, it looks nice, but will the .50s still be porked? (Anyone have good info about ammo belting used by F-51s in Korea?) I'll still play IL2/46 for quite a while after SoW comes out. Given the length of time it's taking to produce the first installment (BoB), how long will we have to wait for subsequent add-ons? Even so, I doubt that some of my preferred planes (such as the B-17) will make it into the planeset. Ever. I think the shiny new game smell will not last long when we're limited to flying only a handful of planes during a very limited timeframe over the same areas of ground and sea. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over... It will get repetitive very quickly, especially since we've been spoiled by the huge number of planes and maps available in IL2. |

I'll be flying IL2 loooooooong after buying BoB. At least until Oleg and company get around to the Pacific again.

I hate to say it, but IL2 will always be a remembered.
Bah. I hate feeling like I owe something to a mere game, even if a sim. |

if I live until SOW's launched, my agony will remain for about half month. it's the time it gonna took to bring a SOW copy to Brazil. I imagine me, watching the comments about the sim and stay sit down without could do almost nothing but wait.
but I gonna still play IL2 because it covers other fronts, and I love play in all WWII fronts. |

The .50s in FB aren't porked... They are actually quite good.. you just have to hit what you are aiming at.
