Joint Ops has been around for some time. It has in my opinion wrote the book on Flight Sim Schools.

No offense.... but this sim is 7 going on 8 years old... it kind of kills me that so many new people are coming here and thinking that they are starting something new... rather than realizing that there is a lot of good stuff that has already been done.. and done well.... in multiple arenas when it comes to this sim.

Why reinvent the wheel.

Oh good, options Smile.

Sometimes it's hard to get into Joint Ops classes on a schedule that suits the user. At least there's an alternative schedule now.

First, they wrote "A" book on flight sim schools. Not everyone is content with the way things are being done. JO was a great idea that went wrong somewhere. JO's "sit-down and shut-up" attitude towards its students rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. After all, we're all adults who deserve to be treated with respect regardless of experience or capabilities.

Second, when a wheel gets out of round, you make a new one.

SFS classes are structured to be more accessible. Our basic classes are shorter and more focused and held on weekends. Allowing students more time to learn the material as well as practice.

SFS recognizes that the only way to know if our teaching methods are effective is to solicit feedback from our students. At the end of each class students will be given the opportunity to share what they liked & disliked about that class as well as offer suggestions as to how to improve the course. We may be experienced instructors, but we don't know everything.

I myself rose to the graduate level at JO as well as a former Instructor. I learned very little from the classes themselves. Most of the information I did learn came from other students or simply through trial and error in practice. The more I spoke with students there the more it became clear how high the level of unrest was at JO. The more it became clear that there was certainly room for a different approach. So, no, the idea of a flight sim school isn't new. Never claimed it to be. But the way Simulator Flight Schools operates is certainly different and we feel there are many sim pilots out there new and experienced that can benefit from a fresh angle.

We welcome pilots trained at JO and even offer to allow academic credit based on classes taken there. There is no reason JO and SFS can't co-exist.

As for Il-2 getting long in the tooth, lessons are currently being written for other prominent flight sims. We hope to have them available by September of this year.

Regards,
Mozart

Mozart your link is dead for me???

I'm interested in seeing what you offer, I've been going through JO.

I originally went there to make sure it was worth passing on to others as a worth while venture.

At this time I am still recomending it, even with such things as you speak, it is well ment, and well worth doing. I've met some super folks there, as I'm sure are at your location.

I'm all for training, and enjoyed teaching in my old squad and enjoy taking courses at JO, I'm a firm believer in,

"If you find one day you are no longer able to learn then its time to die"

So teach away, and help us learn more and better possibly.

Registration is done through the Application to Enroll. Direct registration is disabled for security reasons. It keeps the spammers and bots out of the forums and keeps them cleaner. If you or anyone have any further problems, please let me know. We are a new outfit and there are bound to be unforeseen problems.

I too met some outstanding individuals at JO. It is the organizational structure that has left such a bad taste. Your quote couldn't be more true. If you stop learning, you are dead already. Thanks for the interest and I look forward to seeing you in class.

Thanks

As for me actually signing up for your school, unlikley, since I work all Saturdays. Which by the way, has and will hinder me finishing JO.

There are enough new, and old in this genre to overwhelm both schools or even actually enjoy both of them I'm sure.

I truly hope both can co-exist and we don't have to Moderate some sort of battle of the bands here.

It's good to have an alternative. I do agree that JO's BFS schedule is not for the faint of heart, lol. As for the "sit down and shut up" attitude, I didn't experience that when I was at JO, they seemed very open and willing to work with everyone and answer all questions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to argue with you, maybe thats changed since I went through. I may very well check out your school, it never hurts to go back through the basics every now and then and I never got the opportunity (through time constraints) to go much beyond BFS at JO.
