Even though I would imagine that some of you are pretty fekking old geezers.

Anyway, I was just curious to learn if any of you weirdo's happen to collect and or still have around in a box somewhere any of your old Plastic 3D Army Men?

I ask this question, because out in my Storage Shed, in a Box that originally held Russian Pistols that were handed out to Officers only, I have roughly somewhere between 3,000 & 5,000 Toy Soldiers.

Soldiers, Tanks, Jeeps, Artillery Pieces, Bunkers, Etc,.....

Some of them are even detailed to look like they came from World War II.

I have a BUNCH of U.S. Solders, Some British, Some Japanese and even some Germans.

How about you guys?

If you look at some of the older threads there are some asking peoples age...and some with photos of us.....etc.

I'm 56 and when i was a kid i liked collecting the small boxes of plastic soldiers by Airfix, in 1/32 scale and they went well with the Airfix plastic kits of tanks and other armoured vehicles. You got about 36 figures in a box in various positions. We had too many to bother painting them. There were WW1 Brit/German; WWW2 U.S.Marines/Brit/German/Afrika korps/Desert Rats/Japanese/etc. also Napoleonic/Foreign Legion & Arabs/American Civil War/Romans etc.etc.
My brother and I played with them and when i discovered a book about war gaming in the library, we had quite complex rules to follow and using dice and rulers had a great time. Sometime we stretched fishing-line across the room and suspended plastic model aircraft kits to join in the action too.
As kids often do, I imagined it would be wonderful if they all came to life and fought for real, in minature.....
Since I got il2 and started building missions in the FMB ....my wishes almost came true

Granted, I might have wanted to know your ages, but I was more interested in knowing about your toys like the ones I have in my collectioon.

I used to have hundreds of little green army men, (not the American type, but the slightly larger Brit versions), mostly German stormtroopers cos they looked the best. I must admit I really liked them; there was an officer pointing his luger, a guy with a stick grenade and one with an mp40 (my favourite). I even painted them after a while.

Then I decided they needed someone to fight, so bought a box of Desert Rats to take them on.

Oh the carnage!

I think most of us can relate in some way to the little green army men. I am sure that most of us fellows who have been around for a few decades have had much experience setting up those little guys and having battles with them...firecrackers? That was a must for simulating artillery.

That sounds like Airfix 1/32 scale. I had hundreds of those too, although very few of them survived my air rifle years

When I was young, I was just at the tail end of the era for green army men, 1 or 2 more years and I doubt I would have used them. I'm glad I got to a child's imagination far surpasses TV and digital entertainment.

So like did anybody ever actually spend the $2.50 - $4.50 for the Army Men offered in the middle of The Comic Books you read?

I did one time. They came in a Box just about 1/4th the size of a Shoe Box (Size 9 Shoes at the time), that looked a lot like a Foot Locker and the soldiers were this Really Hard Plastic and for the most part they were Flat for all intents and purposes.

You could see their guns and faces and such, but they were just skinny & flat. Turn them to one side and you couldn't see them anymore.

I liked my 3D ones better.

Anybody remember the Vietnam War era Soldiers that came out in the 60's & 70's that were different colors?

I had some that were Olive Drab Green, Blue, Yellow, Light Green, Dark Green, White, Black & Red.

Then there were those Soldiers that were a little bit bigger than 2" Inches Tall.

They were like 4" Inches Tall & they looked as though they had Muscles.

Then there were a few that were like 10" Inches Tall.

Of course, I only saw a couple of those.

Anybody ever actually own an Actual G.I. Joe Action Figure, before G.I. Joe became an Organization and was still just a singular person?

You know, the one that was the same size as Barbie?

It's totally the mileage.

I'm 36, BTW. I don't have much left over from my youth, either sold, destroyed, given away. However, I do recall having a huge box full of Army men, as well as toys from the popular action figure lines of the time, GI Joe and Star Wars mainly. The stuff that was worn out was usually destroyed in a simulated battle, complete with fireworks to any vehicles that were old and ready for the dustbin.

I'm 34 years old but I still feel like a 21 year old.

That's exactly what I did and it cost me a divorce! However The 21yr old is now my wife of 15 yrs.

I am 50, this year.
