Sorry for the caps but there is only really a day before the show and I would hate any of you to waste a lot of money etc trying to get there.....
Be warned and I hope it saves you a wasted Journey........ They only decided this today, 2 days before the event....... MUPPETS !! people will be travelling from all over to this and you may get 10,000 plus turf up and be told no you are not welcome..... that has got to be a death knell on future sales, people won't forget and won't come again.. Friend is down there at the moment working ( Fairford), says the car parks resembled the Somme on Tuesday with tractors having to be used to get cars in and out of the camping site and they are worried if it rains again it may have to close due to parking being unaccessible, hence the ticket only issues...
So if you are going take some good footwear.. some trenching boards, A couple of thousand sandbags, a set of trenching ladders and a dozen rolls of WW1 barbed wire...you may need them |

Yep my sister and friends arrived yesterday late afternoon to set up camp and by later in the evening were among many others in the local clubhouse looking very depressed. One guy she spoke to had driven down from Scotland
Shes going to suffer financially as well because although they are refunding tickets they've been told that will take 8 weeks and a couple of the tickets bought were obtained from Ebay. All that said I dont imagine for one minute this is a decision they will have taken lightly but still a great shame, heres crossing fingers for the announcement at 4pm today to confirm if tomorrow goes ahead |

I cannot see why any ebay tickets will be not refunded as they are legitimate tickets, if they need a reciept can they not contact the ebay seller or even produce an ebay reciept... If they were cheaper on ebay because they couldn't go, contact them and say it is being refunded, if they refund the amount they paid on ebay they will return the tickets to the ebayer who can then claim a full refund from RIAT... I talked to my Friend who is there with the Spitfire and he was telling me how bad it was....... you could always bite the bullet and pop over to Duxford, that is normally a cracking show, |

I'm not a 100% sure what the issue is with the ebay ones, as you can imagine there was a LOT of ranting throughout the conversation lol, but I'll talk to her properly about it when things have calmed down and hopefully they can work something out.
Duxford is pretty much a no go for me because of the distance, getting there is one thing but then we would need to stay over and with kids and a dog its all extra problems to work around which are pretty much enough to make it impossible |

Mwhahah they'll move it back here to Cottesmore like they did when they were resurfacing Fairfords runway.

I have to say I think that was pretty inevitable when they cancelled. The costs involved in cancelling are so high they have to ensure next year or any other for that matter does face the same problem and if the flood/ water logging issue cannot be resolved by any other means in Fairford then a move is the only option left. |

ms-kleaneasy It may well be a bit of sabre rattling, you see there is plenty of area on Fairford that are hard standing and perfectly acceptable for parking, Unfortunately Fairford (that financially benefits from the show) does not allow them to be used........ so all parking has to be off site and in that lies the crux of the matter.......
One other thing, when talking about not being possible to have gone across to Duxford lock stock and dog.... I would seriously consider not taking your Dog any where near an Airshow Unless he is totally deaf and happy with fireworks..... I do not know if you have been to the likes of the RIAT before, but he would certainly not like the loud noise.. |

I wasn’t aware of that; well hopefully the threat of leaving will be enough to change a few minds if not get them to reconsider more carefully their reasons for saying no.
When I referred to the dog I meant in terms that anything more than a day trip distance meant sorting kennels and we don’t like putting her in kennels I've been to many air shows (very much grew up on them) and in fact have missed out on many for a few years because my youngest was too young to take for a while, I always found it quite upsetting when you see people pushing youngsters (4 and under ish) around in buggies with no ear protection crying their eyes out and no one’s paying any attention to the clear fact they can’t handle the noise, it’s quite sad. It’s something I feel strongly enough about that I’ve missed shows without a second thought rather than take my children when they were too young to deal with the noise, I personally think it’s cruel to force something which is actually painful on them, anyone I won’t go on about that anymore its a sore point of mine and annoys me a lot when I see it so I could rant forever lol |
