Seems that Ms. Pelosi is planning for a vote on Saturday on their lil' ol' bill. It's been posted, and it's every bit as impenetrable as their first masterpiece. Read it (sorry) here.

An interesting article here about how the various tax and penalty provisions are NOT indexed for inflation, which means that taxes will go up, and the income bar for paying them will go down. Lovely.

And this from the comments section of that article (and, no, I havn't gotten enough of the proposal read to verify the poster's comments, so take it with a grain of salt):

" The Empress includes in her poison bill $ 56 Million to require 'caloric truth' information on vending machines.

Her bill sets up WAITING LISTS for the uninsured as a cost control measure.

Used taxpayer funds to pay for abortion.

Establishes a waiting period of SIX MONTHS before coverage for those 'uninsured' with serious illnesses, including cancer.

In addition, she told the Weekly Standard on 9/24/09, that she 'absolutely' supported posting the FINAL bill online for 72 hours before a vote. Today we learned the FINAL BILL will be posted LESS THAN 24 hrs. before the vote.

All this, from the woman who claimed she would 'drain the swamp' of corruption in Congress.

She is, by her own actions, the very definition of it."

EDIT: fixed link to article.

..... If it passes, I hope we like what we find at the end of that road. I doubt it.

Erco, you claim to be a reasoned skeptic, but why would you post these inflammatory comments that have no source? I could post a comment on there saying this bill will spend 81 million on preserving the unicorn for further generations and 35 billion on euthanizing midgets but it's not true.

Near as I can tell, the only possibly inflammatory comment is the one about Speaker Pelosi being corrupt, which is arguable. The rest is what one commentator has (supposedly) gleaned from a reading of the proposal. I debated cutting the 'Empress' referral out, but I kind of liked it. As for the rest, it appears consistent with previous editions of the proposal.

The Republican plan presented by Dark Sith Emperor Boehner and his cadre of perfidious bounty hunters might reduce your health care premiums but only because you'd get worse coverage.

It won't be so bad as long as I get the free 'Death Star' piggy bank and the 'light saber' Pez dispenser that goes with the plan. Big Grin

P.S. I wonder if John ever gets his last name mispronounced. I bet that if Wayne and Garth were still around, they would have a field day with it. Winky

I still find it amusing/sad/deplorable that everyone is so upset about high insurance premiums, but no one seems to be upset about the high costs of the medical care that are the reason for the high premiums.

I also heard an interesting angle as to why the AARP has endorsed this bill. They sell supplemental Medicare/Medicaid insurance and stand to make literally Billions of dollars from the passage of this bill (due to the very high probability that the government's insurance still won't pay for everything).

In the other thread about this I have brought it up more then once about the high cost of medical care. Not only AARP but every other insurance company that will be selling supplemental insurance cause NHC wont cover it

Here's more good stuff:

A WSJ breakout of some of the 'Pelosi Bill' highlights here.
(includes page numbers for your convenience)

Here is a page from the Republicans on the ways and means committee detailing the legal consequences -fines and jail time- of not complying with the health plan. Here is the text of the letter without the Republican interpretation.
