You were unlucky and bumped into the "wrong" kind of "Scots". It wouldn't have happened if I had been with you.

You should think of Scotland as N.Ireland with Scottish accents. Some Scots are the most British people you could imagine, frighteningly British. Some (the type who might use the dreaded H word) are not.

I don't want to drag that whole thing up again, but make no mistake, some of the best Britons there have ever been were born on my side of the border. And, of course, in Wales.

Sorry Aimail, but "If you're in a Welshman..." didn't scan too well.

I'm actually making a personal appearance in Newport & Cardiff next month. Got to say it's a babetastic part of the world. Oddly enough I was living and working in Wales during the miner's strike. My accent and appearance led many locals to think I was an off duty English policeman...not too groovy, I can assure you. I think they like me now.

Foxy, thanks for the offer - I've been all over England, Wales and bits of Ireland, never Scotland. My drinking/travelling buddy is a Glaswegian who keeps suggesting I escort him on a trip home, you never know your luck. Party Hat

DKoor - sorry for hijack. Who's your tip for the Euro finals? We can take a detatched view now England failed to qualify.

should have been Bayern Munich Crying

but our players went out partying for two nights before playing Zenit because we'd just won the German Cup, Hitzfeld shouldn't of let them free of training Sad But not gonna lie, Zenit are a great team and destroyed us... in the second leg

@ stathem...I hope the guys don't make too much of a mess down there mate, and I wish your team well in their Euro final. It would have been nice if two British teams could have won both cups. Maybe next year, eh?

BTW DKoor, wtf is that in your sig? Big Grin

Cheers!

As expected, the council have scrapped plans for big screens for us in Manc next Wednesday due to the mither last night....even though it's barely the Jocks fault, the main screen they put up failed 15 mins before kick off. No wonder they were pissed off - I would have been too.

So now us, the tax payers, the team that makes Manchester famous, in our own f***in city, are stuck in over-crowded, sweaty pubs. Most of us can't afford the £2K trip to Moscow so loads are going into town...We predicted exactly the way this was going to go the moment Veiri missed that pen in the semi.

"Controversially, Pierce's final Zeke kill on this month took the form of Tom McGuire's seemingly indestructible fifth victim, the former having watched growing impatience as the major, and several other P-38 pilots in his formation, made futile attempts at downing the Japanese fighter. With a sure hand, he deftly dropped down on the unfortunate Zeke from a superior altitude, slotted in behind it, and promptly shot it down with a single burst! Pierce shrugged off the personal invective levelled at him over the airwaves by a rather peeved McGuire, who accused him of being 'a thieving interlooper'."

Could be a few teams, we all know them...

But if I have to bet on someone, that could easily be Italy. Check out their team...

GK
Gianluigi Buffon »
Christian Abbiati »

DEF
Fabio Cannavaro »
Marco Materazzi »
Alessandro Nesta »
Gianluca Zambrotta »
Christian Panucci »

MID
Mauro Camoranesi »
Daniele De Rossi »
Andrea Pirlo »
Gennaro Gattuso »
Massimo Ambrosini »

ATT
Alessandro Del Piero »
Luca Toni »
Filippo Inzaghi »

To highlight some of those guys... very impressive squad who can beat anyone. Monstrous combination of technique skill and power.

France and Germany being runners up... France has great team too, and in spite of theier ranks being literally filled with outstanding players I for some reason don't see them at 1st place. Germany has good team, their main strength is in discipline, which seems to be an universal characteristic of most of their squads on big tournaments.

About our team, Croatia... hm. We have some good mostly technique based players and excellent team spirit, however we lack powerful def midlefielders such is Gattuso. Will it be enough to make an impact? We will see...

That Italian first team you posted is nearly/50% past their peak especialy the frontline but yes a very hard team to beat ,whether they give one last hoorah to the cause this summer who knows,my tip for the Euros (on paper at least) is Spain, but I say that every tournament with them.

I bet Manchester City Center looks like a bomb hit it this morning, apparently it went on for more than two hours and plenty of gettyimages to prove it,not to mention the six in the stadium arrested for the stabbing of a Russian fan,I heard the big screen was pulled because of overcrowding in the two fan parks, nothing to do with a technichal glitch.

Zenit and its Dutch trainer D. Advocaat Smile

"Once (I think it was 31st aug. 1940), I was in a fight with four Hurricanes over Dover.
I was back over the channel when I saw another Hurricane coming from Calais, trailing white smoke, obviously in a bad way.
I flew up alongside him and escorted him all the way to England and waved goodbye.
A few weeks later the same thing happened to me.
That would never have happened in Russia - never". (Erich Rudorffer - 109 pilot)

I'm Scottish and i don't give a **** about football but i'm glad they were beat. I'm sorry the Gers/Teddie Bears scum that were guilty of those sickening scenes will be seen by the world as Scottish football fans and not for the politically-motivated missing links that they are...

And there I was about to post in GD complimenting you for showing a member the error of his ways.

And I quote:

" I don't know if you're trolling or not, but that sort of childish political rhetoric has no place here..."

As Stathem has pointed out, the biggest tragedy here (apart from the stabbing of a Zenit fan) is that Mancunians have been robbed of the opportunity to watch their home team in their own city - be that the fault of a minority of travelling fans, the police or poor organisation from the burghers of Manchester.

I'm not defending in any way the scenes we've all witnessed, but am sickened by the bandwagon jumpers like Salmond, Brown & others who are attatching their own agenda to this sad episode.

Also worth noting the lengths Rangers have gone to so as not to offend or detract from Celtic mourning the sad loss of Tommy Burns.

we aren't hearing about the Zenit fans though, why is that? I know before the match they were warned that if they made any racist chants or anything like that, there club could be fined and other punishments.
