The gunner's position. The inside details are exact replications of the inside actual tank positions. The gunners scopes are exact too. Cool

another view from the gunner position. If your gunner is hit you will have to take over this position as well as command the tank. Gunnery is a real art in a ww2 tank! Smile

Commander's position "button up"

Most german panzer had quite excellent commanders "cupolas" fitted which gave all around excellent view when the tank was totally closed up. When Russian T-34's were captured they were often reequiped with german cupolas!

..........................

Those little windows are called "vision blocks" which are small reflecting periscopes made from "panzer glass" The driver and commander have them. That way if they are hit the commander or gunner doesn;t lose an eye. Also they are replaceable and tanks carried spare sets. American sherman's had them too I believe as did most WW2 tanks.

Many later tanks used small periscopes for the driver and commander later on. The later Panther's use them.

captured T-34 with german cupola added.

commanders outside view. It was always prefered to go into almost all battle "unbuttoned" That was and is because a comander even in the most modern tanks get much more perspective on the battle looking from outside the tank!

Drivers position. Panel driver with controls is to the right. Driving a tank is quite a expericance. Especially when you have a MSFF stick! Smile

Notice the gear selector symbol under the view port. Wink2

Actual gear panel. You can just get a glimpse of it in the screenshot.

Gunner/radio operator position. The radio is to the left. German tank machine guns and fortification machine guns used a real neat remote optical viewer to avoid enemy gunfire. Cool

I used to play Tank sims years ago on the Amiga, one of my favourites was Campaign, and Campaign 2:

Sounds pretty good. Smile Panzer Elite missions play just like Il-2 believe it or not, only with tanks! Party Hat Nice to take a break once and a while from flying I have found out.

Panzer Elite graphics are a bit dated but the funny thing is one really doesn't mind because the game feels so darn real when you use it. Also no where else that I know of do you get the actual interiors of the real tanks to use.. Cool

I have been enjoying this game so much lately that I checked on gogamer to see if it was still offered. Found out a "Panzer Elite special editions" is being offered for twenty bucks so I ordered it. Many new missions,a mission editor and new tanks to use including the T-34! bow

They have a way newer version with way better graphics but it plays like a stinky arcade game. I tried the demo and deleated it.. Sad

I loved PE Spec Ed. when I had it. I chucked it because I couldn't get it to run properly on my new comp.

Shame: I guess it still works well?

It has the best ballistics modelling I have seen in a WW 2 tank sim; I don't know if Steel Beasts is better or not, but it's modern armour anyway.

Very good terrain modelling too; hull down positions, turret down positions....

It was a great game! Love them Tigers......

Really nice to hear that. Smile I feel the same way. Do you run windows Xp or Vista? I bet that is your trouble. Many old games hate Vista and won't work.. Sad I had an upgrade to vista from Xp and after many of my old games didn't work and my old pro MSFF stick had trouble I reverted the computer back to XP and that solved the problem. Cool
