The guy who played Spock did an especially good job! Thumbs Up

Well, it's nice to hear good reviews, spoilers and all. I was interested in seeing this movie, but was getting concerned seeing how all the TV spots all seemed to show the same clips over and over. I guess I'll have to round up the boys and go see this movie later this week!

Just saw Star Trek 2009...

WOW just WOW, NOT disaapointed at all

the cast was awesome, Kirk very cocky as it should be, the Doom guy as McCoy cool, Shawn of the Dead guy as Scotty mega-awesome, Spock that Sylar fella, I hate him in Heroes and that's good, Harold as Zulu, I was expecting him to say "Stifler's mum!" lol...and man that Uhura babe, she was HAWTZOR!!! Winky

Oh and that PLOT!!! superb resource to not disturb the original trekkies, was just AWESOME and well performed, they pull it off!

Oh and to that guy wondering if he should ask a girl to see this movie? DO IT MAN, go for it, if your playing your game correctly, it shouldn't matter at all the movie's subject, she should be willing to spend time with you regardsless of the activity, while in the theater, just be sure to constantly point out how hot the actresses are

regards

At 8 dollars a film at my local theater, this sounds like it'd actually be worth it to see on the big screen Smile

I'm not a Trekkie by any standard, but I haven't heard anything bad about it and think I will check it out.

Thanks for all your opinions Happy

Don't have to be a fan to like it, but there are plenty of "goodies" in there for those that are. Little bit of everything for everybody. Happy

Hope you enjoy. Thumbs Up

The only thing that I would have liked to be a little better is the soundtrack, yes its nitpicky but it is pretty blase. I love the Wrath of Kahn soundtrack(best ever) and the rest have been quite melodic at times. This new one is just sound effects. It worked, but I'd like something catchy.

I actually thought the soundtrack was good. Real Trek if you ask me.

I loved it. I never was a trekkie, never even saw a single episode, but man I loved that movie. If they did a series off of the movie, I'd HAVE to watch it. And by watch it, I mean kill everyone that tried to stop me.

Well, we'd have to disagree about something in this movie. I don't hate it, but I don't like all that much either, movie rocked and am going to try to finish work early to watch it again during my lunch.

I guess you'd have to call it a prequel cause you see how they start out, at least in this version of reality. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just talk about the film in general terms.

1. I loved it. As a guy who saw ST Original in "real time", I can say that this effin film rules. They get it right and the the story and character development drive the film NOT Special Effects.

2. Despite the cast being pimple faced kids they totally owned their characters.

3. Interesting that you see the bowels of the Enterprise and they look surprisingly "functional" for a change. There's pipes and pumps and stairs and junk. People die in copius amounts.

4. Sound was excellent. See this in Imax or on in the theatre. Small screen no good.. big screen GOOD.

5. I'll probably see it again this weekend, it's THAT good.

Da Worfster

PS, no Klingons though sigh...

Went to see this with my 23 year old son today, like Worf i remember it first time round(in the UK,I believe it first started in 1969,it was on BBC2 and was, along with the "High Chapperel" about the only programme in colour!
I loved it,i wasnt bothered about SFX,i just wanted them to do justice to the charecters, that they did in spades!

I loved it.

I think that as far as reboots go it's just about all you could hope for. I think it ranks with BSG for balancing respect for the characters and milieu of the original with taking the series in a new direction.

Just like when I saw Goldeneye or Casino Royale I thought "Cool! Now I can watch the Bond series again!", Star Trek rescues the franchise from irrelevance.

Well I can only concur with all the above .This is a GREAT movie for trekkie and non trekkie (myself included ) alike .In the fairly small cinema screen I was at the sound of the Entreprise engaging warp drive and going to light speeding was earpoppingly unreal ....cant imagine what it would be like in an IMAX really!
