OK here's some progress. It's been a while.

Finished gun bay with added 30ga copper wiring

Fixing the engine to wing fit. This area is notorious on this model. Every review I've read talks about it.

Here's the scheme I've settled on. Will need to make the "S" decals myself.

Detail at elevator trim tab. Actuator rod and link is scratch built.

Lots left to do. Still a lot of filing and sanding. Thanks for your interest.

Loved it when broadcast recently - will watch many times again. Thumbs Up

Dads helping with homework was great...as was blurring out the faces of middle-aged chaps browsing in the model shop to protect them. Veryhappy

Hi guys! Recently I started modelling again with a friend of mine after a 10 year hiatus for both of us. I'd like to try some new stuff and one of those is using washes to bring out the panel lines more. I understand I need to coat the model with a clear coat before I apply the wash. One of the things often used is something called future, now I brushpaint my models at the moment so I was wondering if it is feasable to apply that stuff and the matt coat after by brush?

Future is acrylic floor varnish made by Johnsons, (make sure u get the right one, the new stuff isnt that good or so I am lead to believe) that's the stuff, it seals in the layer and can be brushed, you put it under the decals too as it hides the film, there are many washes and guides on the web,

join us all over at http://www.britmodeller.com/ and we will help you along, nice lot really Big Grin

Phil at promodeller has some excellent guides on the site, see

http://www.promodeller.com/pro...ers-weathering-wash/

you can get matt varnish and also gloss in a rattle can by the likes of Humbrol, I get mine off evilbay Big Grin

Talking of Britmodeller...

This guy's done to 1/72 Hurricanes what I'd like to do with 1/72 Whirlwinds - what a collection! Eek

Here a small update of the Matilda

Pic of the frontal part of the turret with the copper scratch built "Feldvisier" (I dont know the engl. term of "feldvisier"(an aiming help for the Cdr. for a rough align the main gun with the target, to easier the gunner's search for the target)) The searchlight is also pimped by a tranparent part. The search light also owns a bulb I made, sadly not that easy on that pic. Ejetion marks will be covered by the Cdr hatch, don't worry.

Scratch built antenna-Skid. The Tamiya-part found its way into the trash can - except the round antenna foot. The kit part here are too coarse.

Backlight. drilled out original part with glued in red, themoformed Plexi. Fixing for the long range tank also scrach built with tin foil after photo template

The botchy long rang tank arrachment view from front. The kit parts were also replaced here. That's looks like shi**y modelling but it's after pic templates and seems to cover the RL tank attachment.
