Don't know about the rest of you, but when I see that the same guys who got us into this sh*t position economically are now awarding themselves huge bonuses I start to wonder.

Wallstreet and the banks are now back to exactly the same bonus system we had in place prior to the collapse.

It's reprehensible. The proper words to describe it aren't permitted on this forum.

I find it shocking, but even as a fairly left leaning type of guy I don't see how it can be effectively legislated against.

Perhaps you could, ahem... lean a little further left. There are alternatives to legislation. Wink2

I'm surprised that people are surprised!
You didn't really think anything would change did you?

What I find funny is that certain far right whacko columnists in The Sun who always have something to say about liberals, lefties and immigrants are up in arms about it.

Guilt by association is a horrible predicament. I trust you browse the free online version of the Sun, Aimail, ensuring not a penny goes towards Murdoch's nefarious empire and its' disgusting aims & objectives. I was browsing my DVD collection a few minutes ago when I rediscovered a complete set of old war movies given away by theat paragon of British fair-play & justice the Daily Mail. Will I burn in Hell for supporting such an institution? Well no, because (a) there is no Hell, and (b) I charmed the complete set plus back ups from the bird behind the news and cigs counter at my local Tesco. Ways and means of striking back. Ways and means.

Now here's a plan that'll never come to fruition unless we all pull together:-
Set a date a few months down the line. Inform your bank that's the day you're going to withdraw all of your money. You and the rest of the world. Hard cash. In your hand. Your money. You and every other 'customer'. Your bank and everyone else's. See who gets their cash. I bet it won't be the people at the arse end of the queue...if the bank has the balls to open at all that day. We all know why, don't we? The money doesn't exist. Never has. Never will. An empire built on bullsh!t. An empire we all defend to the death. Well, if history has taught us anything, it's that all empires fall. Sooner or later. I hope I'm there to see this one go down the crapper.

Anyone with me? I thought not. Well think up your own schemes for little victories and content yourself with them. Rest secure in the knowledge that - as Uther observes - nothing will change, until you really want it to. When you really want it to, give me a shout. I'll still be interested in helping you. Maybe someone will be interested in helping me. Anyone with me now?

and the banks are back big into the markets and very little into loaning out money to the average joe after we gave them all the dough for just that reason. Angry Blue Guy

Good plan LF,but I don't keep my money in the bank! Under the bed is much safer these days, never trusted banks.
You are right though,it would be a great fun filled day if everyone did that!
I could imagine roads closed and banks cordoned off by the polizei...

Or how's about we all gather up a bundle of cash, go to the Bank of England on the same day and demand what the governor thereof promises to pay us on demand - as printed on every banknote?

I must confess if it weren't for being paid by cheque or transcash, I wouldn't bother with banks. I clear my account every month. I wonder just why, in this day and age, it takes them '5 working days' - and the barstewards don't accept saturday as one of them, even if branches are open - to clear a cheque? Just what are they doing with it? Multiplied by every other sucker in the country that puts up with it, well, that's a lot of dosh. Remember being paid in actual money? Kids think I'm joking when I tell them.

Not surprised here at all. Petty crooks go to prison, big time crooks get six-figure bonuses (or run for Congress). Maybe letting the banks fail might have cleared out some of the corruption, but we just bailed them out to protect them from the consequences of their own greed and stupidity

Yep, Obama is capping salaries for execs of bailed-out companies at $250,000 if the company hasn't paid off their bail-out money yet. I wonder what the Republicans will say about this......
