Nice site. Firearms and ammunition are another area of interest for me so I found the site very informative.
One of the most fascinating rounds I ever read about was the silent shotgun shell developed for the US Navy SEAL teams during the Vietnam war. When fired the blast was contained within the shell by means of an internal brass case. It unfolded with the pressure and propelled the shot out by kinetic energy. It was apparently quite effective at close range but if the internal cartridge ruptured it gave the game away. It was not adopted for service use as it was expensive and other suppressed weapons performed the same function more efficiently. I have a collection of inert ammunition ranging from a .32acp to a 27mm Mauser round from a Tornado. The rarest round I have is a 4.85mm from the prototype of the SA80 rifle program before it was designated the L85 and redesigned to take the 5.56mm NATO round.
