Thomas the Train was like my favorite show and i have every single one of the toys made in the mid-late '90s.

Tonka trucks like mentioned before. i can stand on the thing without it bending.

I had a whole bunch of the electric trains that you could build your own track and stuff. I even made a nice landscape for them(but they got moved up to the closed due to lack of room. so they're in storage)

I remember some of the stuff I had back when I was a kid.

Tonka Trucks
Hot Wheels (including the orange track and loop)
Lincoln Logs
Legos (I still have my Legos from the 60's and I picked up a dump truck this year that can be made into a roll back wrecker and has a moving bed)
GI Joes (the 12 inch ones) with the helo

These were some of my favorites, but one I really liked, while not really a toy, minkos, allowed us to play games to win minkos from others who had them. I wonder if the Japanese still make and play them.

I'll bet that most of the children who ever had a Hot Wheels set got spanked with a track section at one point or another. Profile

It seems that maybe mothers the world over are biologically hardwired to instinctively know what that orange plastic track section is really for. Consider if anthropologists were to ever discover another primitive stone age tribe living in a remote part of the world: They would be shown items from the modern world to see if they would have an idea of what the items were used for, and the women would automatically pick up the track and immediately begin to spank their unruly children with it. Winky

I'll see what I can arrange with my anthropological contacts, but I suspect that the 'stone age tribe' would be more likely to spank the anthropologist than their children, especially if he were to describe them as primitive. From what little I know on the subject, contemporary hunter-gatherers often have a rather enlightened approach to child development, and tend to let them do their own thing - ordering children around seems to be much more common under 'civilisation'.

And which would you rather do: play with Hot Wheels, or spend your day hunting and eating frogs and small rodents?

I think that you might have missed the Winky.

I am somewhat aware of how some "newly discovered" stone age cultures operate because I subscribe to 'National Geographic' and 'Smithsonian' magazines, and I sometimes even read them. Profile (Note that when I use this emoticon, I am laughing at my profile. It may appear that I am laughing at someone else's, now that I consider it.)

Hopefully I didn't come off as condescending and demeaning to cultures that the "Civilized" world might call "uncivilized", or "stone age". Hence the Winky emoticon which I always presumed to be a joking around, facetious, maybe sarcastic indication of humor.

I cannot help but notice that you sometimes have serious discussions here on the forum, and perhaps you are still in 'debate' mode. I assure you that most of the stuff I post here is usually in a light hearted and joking manner, and not to be taken too seriously. Because of the limitations of the internet, I try my best to not be misunderstood. That's why I like the liberal use of emoticons the forum here has to offer such as Winky, Mean Happy, Profile, Blink, Smile, etc.

Messaschnitzel, I think perhaps I should have included a Wink2 or two myself, I wasn't really taking your posting seriously...

I somehow assumed that the image of an anthropologist being spanked with a length of Hotwheels track would be sufficient to imply the ironic intent of my posting. Smile

You are right, though, it can sometimes be difficult to tell whether a posting is intended to be taken seriously, perhaps we should all colour code our postings: green for irony, blue for risqué humour and red for when we are replying to someone who just can't understand logic. Googly

Veryhappy No problem, and the color code is a good idea! But please don't use the dark blue or red text because I will have to highlight it to be able to read it. If anybody ever wanted to cause me to be unaware of what is written or drawn upon something is to put a red upon a blue background, or vice versa, and I will go on my merry way wondering why someone would put up a billboard with nothing on it. I think that it must be a type of color blindness, or something of that nature. Profile

Dont worry messaschnitzel, I cant read the red or blue either Thumbs Up

On the hotwheels tracks, I haven't been spanked by my mother (gotta love the '90s with that Wink2) but my friends and i used to use them as "weapons" back in the day. For those who dont realize this by now, they hurt like hell! Too Happy

That's actually a Macross (aka Robotech) Valkyrie in Battroid mode , not Voltron.

Robotech had a deeper storyline than Voltron.

This is Voltron..the lion version:

Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't clear, I was aware it was Macros/Robotech, hence why I said I need to get those shows, then said I had the whole collection of Voltron. You're pic just reminded me that I meant to try to pick up some Voltron toys for my son, I'd be a hero, lol. When we asked him what he wanted on his birthday cake this year, he didn't say spongebob or thomas or any of that crap, he said he wanted "Voltron, Defender of the Universe!!!", lol. We had to get him to settle for a transformer as none of us have enough cake decorating skills to pull a Voltron out of the hat, lol. I just think it's super cool that his favorite cartoon was my favorite cartoon at his age. Metal

I think some bakeries can paint a image on a cake from an image file.
