greetings, my xp comoputer has a version 1 in it but when i try to use the miod u1.2 version switcher it says i have to have ver 2.0577 etc. So my question is once i find it on ms website do i remove old one or over write etc? and if i goof somwething how much chaos will it entail?

Well, this is best asked in the community help forum, but the short answer is, install it on top of the other one. In fact, IIRC .net versions actually install separately from each other and the apps that use a particular version will use that version etc.
