I recently did research on this game and purchased the $10 version that you find at Walmart and OfficeMax. The game package includes GR and Island Thunder. I've dl the 800+ megs of Mods but my question is do I need to find all of the game patches to install or since this packaged deal is fairly recent can I assume all the patches are already applied?

Pleased that the game doesn't have bad language so I'm setting it up for my young grandson.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

It should not need any patches. Now you state that this has just GR and IT. That seems odd as the GR Gold Edition includes Desert Seige too and many mods require both DS and IT to be activated. Please double check to see if there is the following folders in the Mods folder: origmiss, mp1, mp2. If so, you have everything.

To check the version of GR you have, check in the lower right corner of your screen.

Thanks for the info WhiteKnight77...

When booting the game I get v.1.2.5.0 in the bottom right corner. So I guess I need to install the 1.4 patch. ??

I'm having a little trouble getting the mods I dl to show in the game. I put them in MP1 Mission and MP2 Mission. I can't find instructions on where to put them. Maybe also in the orig. ??

Grandson will be over this afternoon and he is going to enjoy this game. I'm wondering if the advanced version also has no language problems.

Mods go into their own folder in the Mods folder, not into the origmiss, mp1 or mp2 folders.

If you do have all 2 folders, then you have Desert Siege and Island Thunder. Did this come on one or 2 disks?

As far as patches, if you are at 1.2.5.0, IT made it 1.3 (it's been a while since I installed the games and not even sure what version mine is at, I guess I need to look). Once the 1.3 patch is installed, then you can install the 1.4 patch.

GhostRecon.net is the place to find everything you need (save for certain mods that contain stolen work).

Thanks again for your time and help. My grandson (5 1/2) and I just played two missions and a campaign with GR and he had a blast. Loves the sniper setting with the zoom and walking around zapping stuff besides the men. He really liked the battle in the caves. It's great to have a fun game like this without the language.

So I need to create something like MP3...4...5 and put the files for each mod in an MP new setting. Right?

I'll grab the patch after babysitting.

Have a good evening...

I do have MP 1 & 2 but when I go to mods it only shows Island Thunder. It was on 2 disks.

Most mods will create their own folders when you extract them to the Mods folder. Still double check the ReadMe included with each mod to see if you have to create it or if it is already made for you. If a mod is packed in a self-installer, it wil create the folder for you.

I do not understand what you mean by language. Are you talking character voices or text on the setup screen where you choose your team or are you talking foul language?

Check the Mp1 folder for a ModsCont.txt file. If it is not there, copy and paste the one in the Mp2 folder and edit it in Notepad to say Desert Siege instead of Island Thunder. It should then show up on the Mods tab in the Options menu (if it does not already).

Sorry to be taking up so much of your time. Didn't intend this.

1. By language I just meant that GR has no foul language so it is suitable for my grandson. Not sure if AWarfighter does have bad language or if it does if it can be turned off. Can't find data on that.

2. This is so wierd. Went to the GR file and now the 800megs mods that I installed doesn't even show up. It did break into numerous separate folders with various mod names on them. I was going to create an Mp3 etc and move one of those to that to see if it would show but they are all gone. I'll look some more. The manual gives only a small paragraph on mods which isn't any help.

Duplicated because the reply screen said there was an error. Evidently there wasn't.

I'll be checking the site where I got the mod dl for install help as well.

Mods go in the mods folder.

If it is an installer, click on it, then make sure it directs to your GR/mods directory, default location, change as needed:

C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Ghost Recon\Mods

If it is just a zip/compressed file. Place it into the mods folder and unzip here, done.

Piccy of my mods folder:

What are the names of the folders?

I just have the typical Mp1...2 and orig in the mod folder. But I read somewhere that there is a problem with downloaded mods when using XP. I have XP.

Found all the other stuff from that 800+meg mod dl. Mp2 has almost a gig of stuff in it but nothing shows in the game.

I'm going to do a full uninstall and start over.

Sorry to be such a pain but thanks for your help fellas.

I am gonna bet that your mods are all in the Mp2 folder instead of just the Mods folder. That is fixable without having to uninstall and reinstall. Just cut and past the mods over, just leave the regular IT folders alone. They are easy enough to figure out, they have the same names as the ones in the Mp1 folder.

Messed up and removed the IT folders as well. Took over 4 min to move everything to the Mod folder so that was where the 800 meg dl was.

I'll start all over in a day or two. Might even go ahead and buy the AdvWarfighter game. It's only $10.

Thanks again for your help and time.
