Every time I try to start it up, I get stuck on the black screen with the hourglass. After a few seconds, it goes back to my desktop. What is going on?!?!

What game and what are your computer specs along with the OS?

Original Ghost Recon Gold Edition

Windows XP
AMD Athalon 2500+
ATI Radeon 9600
1.2 GB Ram
A-Bit NF7-M Motherboard

Ran this game on this same computer not too long ago.
The only recent change has been the new graphics card.

It should run on what you have, including that video card. Have you tried a video card driver update or even roll-back? I can't remember, but GR may remember what video card you are using and you may have to delete and create a new options.xml to run the game.

would it still remember after being uninstalled?

As I have never uninstalled the game (yes, even almost 7 years later, I have yet to uninstall GR from any computer I have owned, just installed it on a new HD), I could not say. I am sure that a folder is left behind with saved game settings along with any screenshots you have taken along with any mods you may have installed.

You may want to see if anyone at GR.net has had similar problems with GR and your same video card.

White Night is correct, that file has parameters for the last card installed

where is that file?
