I got the same stuttering problem in DX10 with HAWX. I've been testing it with in built benchmark tool, with everything maxed in DX10, with res. 1280x1024 noAA, and the results were 63FPS average, 150FPS maximum. But when I want to play the game, in some missions the game horribly stutters. It appears to be only in some missions, but it is really frustrating, in DX9, there's no problem with everything maxed 1600x1200 and 4xAA ( average fps 70 ).

My configuration :

Intel Core2 Duo E6600 ( 3,11Ghz, 1380Mhz FSB )
Gigabyte GA-945P DS3 ( rev.2.0 - Bios F6E )
4GB DDR 2 700Mhz (4x1GB modules - dual channel)
Gigabyte Nvidia 8800GT Extreme 512MB GDDR3 (1836/1715/700) - no OC ( FW 182.50 WHQL )
Onboard audio Realtek HD ( newest drivers )
2xSamsung 320GB SATA2
Corsair 650W PSU
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64

Thx for any suggestions.

I notice you guys running the intel cpu are haveing this problem? Im running amd and no shuttering at all. Are you guys running SLI? There was a performance issue with the SLI drivers, There was a fix for it on SLI ZONE sight a wile ago. They have a dienostic area in there of things to try to solve the problem.

I've seen issues with DX10 stuttering with the Tablet PC service. If you use a tablet, try disabling this service in Windows.

I don't know if you call this stutter, but I am getting 2/AVG 2 FPS! on DX10, DX9 runs smooth on max detail. Runing on low settings and (800X600)in DX10 makes no difference. Get a black screen on game load. Takes 3 time as long to load a mission compared to DX9 (I don't know if thats normal for my spec)

Hawx 1.01 - Downloaded version
Vista 32-bit SP2 (SP2 made no diff)
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2,4GHZ
4GB Ram DDR2
2 x 8800GT (SLI) Driver:182.50
nforce 650i
RAID 0 WD 298 x 2

I dont know if this is the same issue, but any help would be great!

AHA!!! I run an HP TouchSmart IQ506. Basically, the entire computer is a 22" touchscreen monitor. My DX10 was unusable so I wrote it off to the onboard GPU (NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS). 4 gigs of RAM on Vista64 should be more than enough, but it's the GPU that takes the big hits, right?

I hardly ever use the touchscreen features anyway. You end up with gorilla arms trying to poke and prod a vertical surface, LMAO!

Cheers,

I get stuttering to the game in Dx10 is totally unplayable though Dx9 is totally fine. My specs are:

Hawx version 1.01 (Downloaded Version)
Asus P6T motherboard
Core I7 920(Air cooled and not overclocked)
12 GB Ram DDR3
Evga Geforce GTX 260 (air cooled and not overclocked)
Nvidia driver: 185.81
Auzentech 7.1 Forte
Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 X64

ASUS M3N78 PRO
AMD Phenom II 940 Black (not overclocked)
8GB DDR2
BFGTech 9600GT OC (Factory OC)
Nvidia Driver 182.50
Vista Home Premium X64 w/SP1

The demo ran smooth as butter, and the Game was fine on release. About a week or 2 after release, the game stutters any time there is jamming or I switch to or from off mode or cockpit view, and generally performs terribly. Not sure if this is the same problem or not as I am getting some graphical artifacting as well. I'm pretty sure my video card is fine as I have no issues in any other game.

well i now have a EVGA GTX 285 SC with or with out it over clock and the gfx setting set to max i can play this with no problem and no stuttering in DX10 mode.

i am using the 185.81 driver right now as well. and i have all ways set via nvidia control panel vsynce to off and Texture filtering to high performance and single gpu display.

since i stop running sli a few yrs ago when i got the 8800gtx and now this 285. which is a great card BTW.

but now i have a new problem which i am not alone on. and i wonder if anyone else has seen it before. has anyone else has had a windows pop up for USB device failed error box come up while playing this yet?

if so i wonder why it does this since it stay there till you either stop playing the game and click ok on it or just alt+tab to it so you can close it out while still playing it yet with out closing out your game.

or should i start a new thread on this ?

I have the same issue. Not just 60 fps + stuttering, but literally 2 fps in DX1o mode no matter the settings. I am running 64-bit vista SP2. DirectX 9 mode works fine. I purchased the game from Direct2Drive as a digital download.

My specs are
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Mobo
Q9650 - 4GB Ram
ATI 4890 Video card Running Catalyst 9.5 drivers. I had a 2900XT on catalyst 9.3 drivers and experienced the same issue. I replaced it with the 4890 and still have the same result.

Are the devs looking at the 70fps + stuttering issue and the 2fps unplayable issue as separate issues or as one?

There are 1 or 2 other people in this thread with the 2FPS issue and few more in the main bug report thread.

EDIT: The problem has been resolved. It was presenting when I entered the game in dx10 mode and used the "test settings" demo in the video settings. As soon as I entered a mission, the graphics were fine. After running a mission in dx10, the test demo works flawlessly now as well.
