I'm using HAWX on a PC & I can't access the 'Free Flight' tab on the the menu drop down. It just allows me to continue with the unfinised mission (in Mexico) that I originally started on. Help?

A bit like Randy said, you got to finish the first mission.

To open everything up on PC, someone has created a complete profile, just see the blog
http://blog.gib.me/2009/03/19/hawx-complete-profile/ If you don't want to use that cheat, then ... In order to be able to do free flight, you have to go through the campaign and complete successive levels. After you've completed a level, it is then accessible in free flight. Same goes for other planes. As you complete the campaign levels (1..19), and increase your rank additional planes are opened up. The easiest way to open things up is to use Normal mode. If you have trouble opening the levels in single use mode, try playing in coop using normal mode and go through the levels. Someone may come in and help you complete the levels. The following link gives provides a guide to completing the various campaigns http://www.supercheats.com/pc/...wx-walkthrough01.txt If you don't want to open things up yourself, then you can just join on line coop games. If you haven't advanced through the campaign, then you are stuck with a Mig-21 -- shoot down a couple of things to get some experience points to raise your rank. The down side to joining co-op games is that you only have access to maps that others are already playing. If you want to get a lot of experience points in order to rank up quickly without having to find someone to level up, join a co-op game using the Red Eagle Washington DC map. The first part of the session is a bunch of jets to shoot down Mig-33s worth 15 points, MIR IV worth 25 points, annoying F15C worth 15 points, but you just about have to get behind them to shoot. At the second phase let the cargo planes drop lots and lots of tanks and don't shoot down all the cargo planes. Destroy any tanks in the green circle. In the last phase of this session, the green support planes will be overwhelmed by the number of things to shoot down (if you've left enough things), wait for them to pass through the combat area and then freeze outside the combat area. After that, just shoot away at anything that is yellow -- tank, plane, etc... The key to this is that someone has to join in at some point so you can crash your plane, respawn, and start with a whole new set of missiles. Otherwise you get stuck just using guns when all your missiles run out. Interesting thing about this is that some of the planes just seem to hang in mid air making them easy targets or if you just do donuts (pull left stick towards you) while chasing an AI plane, it will eventually level off and you can get a clean shot 4.5 hour session last night netted me 1100 kills and 21000 points with other players joining in and leaving at will. I would have kept going but for some reason the playstation network logged me out. |
