Well it shouldn't be considered a true GTA-clone. If it is able to put forth more effort into the level of freedom that is seen in it, then I suppose Driver will be appreciated for its freedom and driving.

Why is it that people never think to themselves what genre the Driver series and GTA games fall into? If they had been able to realize this, it's possible that we wouldn't need to see the name "GTA" along with "clone" entering someone's mind when talking about a particular game.

I prefer to call Driver as a free-roam mission-based driving game that is also brimming with chases. That is my definition of Driver.

Now, about GTA IV, I don't think that Jack Thompson will be very successful in stopping Rockstar Games and forcing them to cancel their own games. There's just always something that Rockstar North finds for it to win a case and be able to continue further on with its own games.

It would be a disaster if we never saw a GTA game ever again after what happened with Jack Thompson and GTAIV as well as Manhunt 2.

Jack Thompson should realize that he's not part of the solution; he's part of the problem. If he is so smart, he would ban all the mature games from the country to that of anyone younger than 18 years old. And has he yet not thought that it's more of the responsibility for the parents, not of Rockstar North, for leaving bad things to come? If it weren't for the parents, the gamers who play GTA would never do anything stupid and would never cause any disturbance between certain people and the world of gaming. He should be doing something to make sure that all parents treat their kids better rather than get pissed off and drive all his force into destroying Rockstar Games because that won't happen.

Yes! That's the guy's name! Jack Thompson, the lawyer involved in the R* case. His name was sort of hazy in my mind, after all, I woke up about an hour ago.

Anyway, if you watched that video I attached, I want what GTA has in the next big Driver game, but a HUGE step forward. Not backward. Plus with some of its own originality and fun from the previous Driver games too. This way the replay value will be very good and pretty much everybody will enjoy it. I want this to happen because then Reflections will be known for something good, a good game that everybody knows about and enjoys (mainly the gamers), like GTA.

I see what you mean and yes, looking back may offer some better help for those new in Reflections. Particularly when looking at the original and classic Driver game, it would be a smart move. Also, Reflections needs to build stronger concepts than GTA and even the previous Driver games in order for the 7th generation Driver game to turn out so spectacular. Looking at the first Destruction Derby and Stuntman game may also provide some help since they both were a success for Reflections.

This is the 7th or 6th generation of vidoe games now? I didn't know that.

Yeah, I still think Reflections should still include as much as they can for the next big Driver game. This way everybody can be happy. And they should certainly include the features of their games in the past and have them improved too.

Right now, since the PS3 and Wii came out, it is now known as the 7th generation.

They should include what was in their previous games, but only those things that made them great and they should try to keep every kind of problem out of the game like bugs and even when it comes to a bad created engine, much like the jumping found in D3.

Yeah, the jumping was pretty bad in Driv3r. I wish Tanner could jump like CJ in San Andreas (like a real person, and not like in Driv3r where it's like he's reaching for the sky).

I sure hope they have Driv3r's on foot actions included in Driver 76 (like jumping and swimming), this way Ray won't be known as a "Dork" like his pal TK. I also hope these actions can be improved too. I'm not sure if it's going to happen, but it would be nice to have.

I assure you that we can expect great things from the next-gen Driver on the PS3, especially since the cinematics are turning out splendid with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and with the fact that the animations were presented and they turned out remarkable (there was an article of it on Ign.com). If you think about the jumping, running, walking, climbing, rolling, shooting, and every other possible human animation, I think that Reflections will be able to push it as close to that of all the power the PS3 has.

Yea they should never take something out just because they didn't do it right the first time. The boats, jumping, and fps controls could've been greatly improved for DPL. Though their focus on DPL I think was more of creating a borderline game in as little time as possible in order to milk any profit out of the engine they built for Driver last gen.

Now they have more time for the next game, they're probably building it from scratch again, but the animation were much better in DPL, and I think they learned a few things too, because they had never done animations past just walking until D3 came out.

I'm sure that Reflections will do a much better job on everything, especially the on-foot, with the PS3's great technology. The animations can be done a lot greater and that will be something for them to consider focusing on in order to make the on-foot abilities stretch out further and possibly even for showing off cutscenes that will really make the game feel great. Even the cinematics can be taken further if they learn how to master and use it well.

There are a lot of different things that can and possibly will be better than that of the previous Driver games because of the PS3's awesome capabilities. We sure can expect a lot more than that of a PS2 game. The PS3's blu-ray discs will allow for huge amounts of work to be done and Reflections will probably not screw up on their games this time, as this disc allows for a lot more capacity to be put up with than a normal disc. They will be able to increase things and make them a lot more incredible. If GTA IV is able to handle awesome graphics and even more gameplay than that of GTA: SA, then I'm sure Reflections can do the same in the 7th generation.

Not to go off topic, but in case if you didn't know, GTA 4 will be built on the same graphics engine that was used in the building of R*'s Table Tennis called "RAGE". I believe another new game from R* for the PS3 "L.A. Noire" will be built on the same graphics engine too. Those graphics look very realistic, but still not as realistic as D:PL's 2006 cutscene graphics (in my opinion). And just to let you know, the GTA 4 official trailer will be released on March 29th.

Yes. I did not forget about the GTA IV trailer and I go often on the Planet Grand Theft Auto website of Gamespy in order to check out new news and to see the countdown to the time that GTA IV comes to stores. If you would like to visit the website, go here. And there is even a lost interview with Sam Houser that you might find very interesting there, so be sure to look for that too when going to visit the website.

I hope the GTAIV trailer isn't 90% logo and 10% short scenes that we can't tell whats going on, I really hate it when they do that stuff. I think Rockstar is pretty good about that though, they're basically on top, so they don't have to hide anything. But one thing is for sure, the trailer will raise more questions than it answers.

Today, my friends were discussing games at my school and we came across the subject of GTAIV. They said that there is a GTA: Tokyo and GTA: London that will be made. I don't believe them and won't do so until I can actually get any proof of that being true. It is nothing but rumors, and while rumors may be true many times, it doesn't automatically qualify these two rumors to be true. The only time that we will know is when we see the trailer. But, course, that won't answer all our questions. It's just as you say, Matt_jon.

Anyways, by looking at GTA IV and many other games from different genres, Reflections can become the top of the food chain. They can bring together the biggest combination of driving and free-roaming in the history of gaming if they are to work that hard, but when won't know for sure until we see what they've been able to get done with the next-gen Driver game.

Yeah, I heard rumors too that GTA 4 was going to take place in England or some other foreign country.

But back on topic, I think the next Driver needs to have all the vehicles in the game operable, no ifs, ands, or buts about that. Yes I am aware that I say that a lot, I just wanted to say what I really want. Whether it's a 1940s steam train or a 1970s muscle car, WE NEED IT ALL. Why do we need it all? I'll tell you why. More people will buy the game, not just those "Car Freaks". And the sales would shoot up, way up.

I think marketing is a bit more complicated than "Well lets just add some more cars and bigger explosions"

The destination for GTA IV will be Liberty City as it can easily be seen by looking at various words that you find within the trailer much like Liberty Tree, Liberty Ferry Terminal, on which some of the letters are missing, and the words "Liberteen", which must have something to do with a teen magazine. You can find the images taken from the trailer and even descriptions on what you see by going here.

Looks more like New York than Liberty City. Obviously, NY is partly what Liberty is based on, but none of the areas in the city hardly looked similar to GTA3, and I should know, I played that game way too much. I'm dissapointed actually, but let the gameplay stand for itself.

I'm also dissapointed they've lost the cartoony look and gone for a more realistic approach to the graphics. Everyone else does realistic graphics, thats why I liked GTA.

I'm soooo tired of NYC, I kind of expected they would go back, but also thought, no, they wouldn't be that stupid? Does this mean the next one will be in Miami, and the next one will be California?

Maybe GTAIV will allow us to go to Vice City and San Andreas too because I read on the article showing off the screenshots taken from the trailer and the part with the train had a billboard that had to do with going to Vice City, so it's possible that we might be able to travel between the 2 cities and one state (San Andreas). We still don't know what the finished game will contain.

Well if that article is correct, hopefully that does mean the other cities will be in this one game. They did start to add flying planes to different cities in SA. And people wanted to mod all the games together...

Though, that billboard was also in GTA3. At that time it said "See you in Miami", not Vice City. Who knows.

Yes, you certainly remember your history from what GTA III had and that's good because you can easily compare and contrast the message said in GTA III to the one that was in the GTAIV trailer.
