What songs do you want to have in the next Driver's soundtrack? I'd like to have all of the real songs from Driver 2, 3, and PL. I'd also like to have the following:
"Mr. Blue Sky", "Evil Woman", "Don't Bring Me Down", and "Turn to Stone" by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) "Pain" by Jimmy Eat World "Midlife Crisis" by Faith No More "Meltdown" by Ash "Not Everyone" by Nine Black Alps "Brother" and "Doorman" by The Sterophonics "F.I.G.H.T." by The Unwritten Law "Paint it Black", "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", and "Last Time" by The Rolling Stones "Surfin' Safari" and "Surfin' USA" by The Beach Boys "Horse With No Name" and "Ventura Highway" by America "Hanh!" by The Ying Yang Twins "Dancing in the Street" by Mick Jagger and David Bowie "Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty "Struter" by Kiss "Free Bird" by Lynard Skynard "Welcome to the Jungle" and "It's so Easy" by Guns 'n' Roses "Back in Black" and "Shook me all Night Long" by ACDC "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol "Viva Las Vegas" and "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis "New York, New York" and "My Kind of Town" by Frank Sinatra "In the Mood" and "Pennsylvania 6-5000" by Glenn Miller "Nights on Broadway", "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "Stayin' Alive", "Massachusetts", and "Tragedy" by The Bee Gees "Cold Blooded" by Rick James "Check Yourself" and "It Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube "The Mess Around", "I Got a Woman", and "Shake a Tail Feather" by Ray Charles "She Caught the Katy", "Everybody Needs Somebody", and "Sweet Home Chicago" by The Blues Brothers "Peter Gunn Theme" by Henry Mancini "That Old Landmark" and "The Boss" by James Brown "Think" by Aretha Franklin "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker "Take the A-Train" by Duke Ellington "Bohiemian Rhapsody" and "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe" and "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" by Barry White "Fantastic Voyage" by Lakeside "Love Rollercoaster" by the Ohio Players "Let it Whip" by Dazz Band "Holiday" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day "Changes", "Rebel Rebel", "China Girl", "Ziggy Stardust" and "Space Oddity" by David Bowie "Real Big" by Mannie Fresh "A Modern Way of Letting Go" by Idlewild "Some Kind of Wonderful" by Grand Funk Railroad "Hey Good Lookin'" by Jimmy Buffet "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult "Ridin' Dirty" by Chamillionaire "White & Nerdy" by Wierd Al Yankovic "The Hurricane" by Bob Dylan "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen I got the ideas for these songs by looking at my CDs, other game's soundtracks, and some where suggested by people I know. I also want to have lots of awesome songs from the 1940s to present day, that would be great for the Driver series. So what do all of you think for these ideas for the music soundtrack? What are yours? By the way, this is a copy-and-paste of my post on the Atari Forums. And I'll edit this post when something comes into mind. If all of these songs don't make it, I could just upload them onto my XBOX 360 and play them through the game. This message has been edited. Hasn't this same topic been posted a million times? I haven't been here in a while but I swear I've responded in a few of these song threads

Maybe on the Atari Forums... It's just a good thing that we tell Ubisoft and Reflections what songs we want in the next Driver game. Anyway, got some songs on your mind that you want to listen to in the next Driver? Like any of the songs I listed? "New York is the coolest place in the world! The only time I listen to music in an open city game is after I finish the game, so I can stay focused on the game's missions and the sounds of the city. I can't imagine a lot of people in a REAL car chase blasting their music while cops are in pursuit, as they need to stay focused.
Cruising around, yeah, that list looks good for a Driver game. -------------- Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun... |

Well as Simon Frank from the Audio Bullys said in a D:PL video "Driver's about cars and you want to be listening to good music when you drive the car". He makes a good point right there. And I'm a very musical person. I would love to have some really awesome songs in the next Driver game.
Personally, I thought D:PL's soundtrack was the best soundtrack in a videogame hands down. That same soundtrack needs to return in the next big Driver game. My favorite song in the game (and in the world) is "Suffragette City" by David Bowie, all thanks to D:PL. In fact, when I first heard that song, I thought it should be the theme song to the whole Driver series. I wonder if somebody will make a music video on youtube one of these days with a bunch of Driver clips (from all Driver games) and have Suffragette City play in the background. Maybe I'll post something like that one of these days. "New York is the coolest place in the world! Yeah, that's a classic and perfect for a Driver game, "Hey man" in Sufferage City song is a very memorable line. |

I was thinking. It would be cool to buy CDs and cassetes in the next Driver game. Like if you want to listen to "Take the A-train", you could go to a music store that sells Jazz labels and buy the CD/cassete to add it to your collection. Like the idea of buying music to add to your personal soundtrack in the game?

I agree. I've already mentioned the thought of being able to buy all kinds of things including vehicles, clothes, weapons, food, drinks, things for your home, and more. Even buying music would be a great option.

Oh yeah, buying stuff rules! And it does match the series to buy things like a big-screen TV or CDs in the next Driver game. Why? Because you've got to drive it home.

LOL. Yes, I'm sure that it would match it well with having to drive it home, but the bigger purpose would be to make the on-foot abilities and freedom even wider, so it is not always about the driving aspect of the game.

Also, the vehicles themselves should have different on-board music. Like an old 70s car will have an 8-track player on it. While a 2000s car will have a CD player on it. Making it so that some of the songs you buy will be restricted. But it doesn't have to be restricted, you should customize your ride's on-board music system, so you could put in a CD player on an old 70s car. You should also be able to wear an IPOD, OK, that's maybe in the clothing department, but still, it would be great to wear it to listen to music when on foot!

Nice ideas for music in the game, Driverman2006. The more better we expand our ideas, much like the thought of buying things such as songs and having a purpose for that, the greater our chances will be in to making the Driver series finally shape up in to something good or even spectacular.

Another cool idea I have about the music is that different vehicles will have different songs already on there. Like some old guy's car will have something like Glenn Miller music already in there, while some young gangsta's car will have Ice Cube music already in there.

Yes. It sounds like an interesting idea, but if the list of music that will be for the game will probably not end up to be as big as the roster of vehicles, so some vehicles would need to have the same song because there would be nothing else that could be done to those vehicles. I'm expecting around 20 or more different songs in the next Driver game (if Reflections spends a lot of time on making almost every element as close to being perfect), so we likely will not see every vehicle with its own song playing. However, it doesn't sad that bad if not every vehicle has a different song because you can always put in your own CD in to the CD player or change a radio station to listen to something else, so all is good.

In case if you want to know, Driver 76 has 20 real songs. Even some songs from the 1978 part of D:PL that would've existed back in 1976 aren't in there. Driver 76 unfortunatly doesn't have songs like "Pick up the Pieces" nor "Gang Bang". But it still has some of the great songs from the 1978 part of D:PL like "Suffragette City" and "Outa Space". So, are you saying they should use the Driver 76 soundtrack again since it has 20 songs already? Plus, if the next Driver game comes out on the XBOX 360, you can always customize the soundtrack with any song in the world on there.

No. I don't think that using something from another game feels fair enough to a new game. It is much better for Reflections to find new talent to work with and have them create the best possible soundtrack a Driver game could ever have. Infact, they would be able to push the number of different songs in the game even further, so why have only 20 music when you can get even more, especially with a 360 or PS3 game?

Oh, that would be ashame if they removed the D:PL soundtrack. D:PL started a revolution in video game soundtracks. GTA NEVER DID. Old artists got back in the music business and made new songs on their new albums. Grandmaster Flash loves D:PL because it is set in the 1970s and the 2000s. He loves the 70s feel, but he's glad that his new music was put into the modern day part of the game. It also has 80 songs from both the 70s and present day.
Hell, D:PL was a nominee for best video game soundtracks 2006. I even made a thread about that on the Atari Forums if you remember. D:PL didn't win, however, it's "cousin" did (since it was another Atari game), that being "Getting Up". I don't think GTA ever made it onto something that high. Maybe it didn't, but starting off fresh is what a game needs. I'm sure that Reflections can bring back the best songs from DPL and even D76, but to offer those that didn't fit the game very right is not a very good choice. Even if Reflections does feature familiar songs, we need new ones as well.

D:PL's soundtrack was the best video game soundtrack, in my opinion. It ruled!!! When it comes to artists, I think we need a lot of David Bowie's songs, maybe he could make some remixes or new songs for the game too. I love "Suffragette City" (which was in D:PL and Driver 76), but there are many other good David Bowie songs that would be great to listen to in the next Driver game. I have Forza Motorsport 2 on my XBOX 360, and I listen to my favorite Bowie songs while racing. I uploaded my favorite Bowie songs off of my Best of Bowie CD into the 360.
