Sorry for shouting, but I just paid for this game and find out that the NUMBER ONE REASON I bought it was for the FILM DIRECTOR mode, and I hear they removed it from Parallel Lines!
Hopefully it is in the PC version. If not, I will NEVER buy another Driver game. |

Yep...
It's very disapointing. I was pissed when I saw they didn't have that. Is Devil May Cry 4 out? Yes! Now what does Dante say?..Oh..LET'S ROCK BABY! |

Here's the reason why Reflections didn't put film director in D:PL (yes, it's true). They wanted to have much more traffic on the roads in the game. Take Driv3r for example, that game had film director, but only 8-10 vehicles would show up in sight. In D:PL, there's no film director, but you can see 30+ vehicles in sight. They just wanted to make it feel like New York City when it comes to traffic.

Yes. There wasn't a Film Director (FD) in DPL, but that doesn't reduce the chances of us seeing it in the next Driver game because with the 7th generation consoles, both the PS3 and Xbox 360, it will have enough to power a lot of different vehicles on the road and for it to include Film Director as well. I'm sure of it. And if we see my concept make it in to the next game, which is the multiple career concept, I'm positive that it will be the best new approach for a Driver game.

I don't care WHAT the reason was. THAT'S WHAT DRIVER WAS ALL ABOUT! Filming and editing your own scenes! THIS SUCKS BIG TIME! I hope they come out with a patch that adds it back. It's one if the unique features that makes Driver a worthwhile acquisition. I'll never buy another Driver without it. |

I could really care less about Film Director. It would never do what I wanted. We'd always "fight" with each other. So it's OK in my opinion that it's not in D:PL. Plus, I'd rather have more traffic than film director. That's what Driver is really about, at least that's the way I see it.

That's because you're not a machinima video producer, Driverman2006.
Check out the video Apocalypse Syndrome in my signature. Totally done with video games. |

Yes, it does suck that Film Director isn't around for now. And I hear that Machinima is a very popular way of making films off of video games. I was even very impressed by the first episode that you made of Apocalypse Syndrome. I must say that I have to congratulate you on the success of it. Hopefully, in the future, you will have a lot more episodes for this series and it will become more popular. The Red Vs. Blue teams of a machinima of Halo 2 is very popular nowadays and maybe even your machinima will get as popular too.

I was really looking forward to Driver PL for the driving chase scenes, but they've made it useless for machinima.
Too bad, it would have ROCKED for chase scenes in NYC. I played it all last night and was totally frustrated that such a beautifully rendered game has doesn't even give you a REPLAY, much less the FILM DIRECTOR. Half the fun of playing Driver was watching the dramatic playback. It is an absolutely GORGEOUS game, and would sell even more copies if people were able to SEE this gorgeous environment in a machinima production. What they've done is created a Michelangelo masterpiece and signed it with a CRAYON! |

The game wouldn't do very much with the Film Director either because of the approach being away from Tanner and of not taking place after D3. If it continued with Tanner, improved on the on-foot that was really boring in D3, made sure that there were no glitches at all, gave us a more compelling story, had a larger list of vehicles (including planes, boats, motorbikes, helicopters, cars, and any other vehicles), and if the graphics were better, then DPL would never have existed and this different game would probably be better than DPL in the end. DPL is just too much of a stray from the traditional elements from the Driver series. There is no Tanner, no returning characters, no Film Director, no better graphics than that of D3, and just about everything including the side missions, felony, cartooish graphics, and on-foot is a copy of the GTA games, especially since you're a gangster rather than an undercover cop. If Reflections hadn't strayed from the first two games, they would never need to worry about anything, but now that DPL is somewhat of a dissapointment for its fans, we definitely need Film Director back, a lot more on-foot, tough and incredibly intelligent AI, awesome graphics (both the cutscenes and gameplay should look the same since it costs even more and is not worth doing so as it would not help the game very much. Also, these are next-gen graphics, so why should there be any better graphics from the cutscenes than in the gameplay?), give us a huge selection of careers to choose for missions and a storyline, online multiplayer (much like the multiplayer in GTA: SA), the most realism in a game, and giving us customization for a character, it will then be the best Driver game ever.

Man, what are you playing DPL on? I play it on a PC, not the console version and the graphics are FAAAAR from cartoonish. I've seen some of the screen shots from the console game - it ain't the same look. PC has what appears to be HDR lighting and the real look and feel of NYC. The architecture is amazing and attention to detail is amazing. I've been to NYC and when I play this game, the sun hits those buildings and water JUST like you see in the game. The shadows move across the landscape as the sun rises and sets - man - you need the PC game. |
Yes. I notice that I didn't say how the PC graphics compare to that of the console versions. The screenshots that I saw of the PC version (before it was out yet), in this forum, prove to me that it certainly doesn't look as cartoonish as it had originally been made for the Xbox and PS2 ports. However, is it true that the logitech Pro wheel makes the controls of the PC game handle really bad? I've heard a Driver fan in one of the discussions from this forum that the wheel is really hard to control with. Is the keyboard any easier to use it or are they almost, if not just as frustating as using the wheel?
I have a Microsoft wheel, so I don't know, but I don't even use it on the game. i use the keyboard.
Why did you buy the Microsoft Wheel if you're not going to use it?

Film Director definitely needs to return in the next Driver game. Without it, the replay value drops. Also, INSTANT REPLAY seriously needs to be improved over Driv3r, which repeated the same views far too often.
-------------- Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun... |
You're right. The replays in Driver 3 were mosly rear view, front view and wheel view with very little views of the outside of the car, drive by's and drive overs.
If UBI cans the Film Director - they just blew 24 million big ones! |
Absolutely. We must see Film Director back. It makes Driver less of a great driving experience and was a very handy and awesome feature that other games never had, so it needs to return and stay there, where it belongs: with the Driver franchise's past, present, and future.

The cool thing about making your own replay is the ability to watch your "action packed" chases in a movie style of your own. Driver 1 had some great replays, and the length to record your chases was the longest out of any of the sequels.
Hopefully, they won't overlook the importance of this very unique feature in a driving game. |

It would be very dissapointing that, even though we are stating how much the Film Director feature needs be more improved than ever and return in the next Driver game, if Reflections dismissed this idea and never decided to ever use it again. However, I see how much they follow us, the fans, so I don't think that Reflections will want to dissapoint us in any way, especially with leaving out Film Director, so I have high expectations that we will be seeing it return.
