Yes, there's plenty of career building, races to win, stunt driving, events, pit stops, rivals to consider for any racing career: stockcar, formula 1, stunt driver, motocross, demolition derby, etc. -------------- Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun... |

If we don't see a large variety of different careers as you displayed in that one thread about picking a driving career you would start first or even about any of the careers that we wanted to see, it's alright because, as long as we see as many as 5-10 different careers that are unique for a driving experience (stuntman, law enforcer, street racer, destruction derby, closed circuit racer, etc.), it will be enough for the next Driver game to deliver its storyline and missions very well. Maybe even for its narrative. And the character customization will possibly go very well with that as well. All I want is for us to get the most amazing driving careers to experience in a driving game and to spend a lot of time with mastering them. This and the other important features we'd like to see are what will help shape up the driving experience. If we don't get very many driving careers in the next Driver game, I'm sure that we can expect a bigger list from any Driver games coming out after the next Driver game.
For the meantime, we should look and analyze possibly the most important careers that Driver should ever focus on and even come up with ideas for their stories and missions. It would help Reflections a lot this way. |

Good point. I think they should consider the driving careers that direct mostly to action, such as racing, stunt driving, undercover work, highway patrol, demolition derby, etc. If there's time, the extra careers would be interesting to play. |

Exactly. We must see the careers that focus the most on handling the action of the driving experience. I will try to list the most important careers and have us maybe come up with our own ideas for them as to how they can make the driving experience so fun and compelling.
List of careers needed the most: 1) Undercover Cop 2) Gangster 3) Stunt Driver 4) Race Driver (for street racing or closed-circuit racing with motorbikes and/or cars) 5) Boat racing 6) Off-road racer 7) Air Show Stunt Pilot 8) Water Boat Patrolman 9) Highway Patrol Officer 10) Demolition Derby Driver These come mostly from the list of available careers that you decided upon, InsaneDriver06, in the thread about which driving career would you play first. And as you mentioned the need of action, most of these definitely have to do with action. |

Those are great choices for the most action. Water Boat Patrol would be a whole new experience, offering pursuits, ramps to ride over, rapids to traverse, and stranded, drowning victims to rescue.

You have a great idea for the Water Boat Patrol, InsaneDriver06. As for the rest of the 9 careers, I'll point out what I think that we need to see from each of them.
The undercover cop career should follow Driver 1 and even give it action to make it an even more dangerous career. There will be mission-based driving with chases from the past Driver games and new ones as well. Shooting will go on in certain missions. You must go and save the city from its crime. Hunt down criminals and even arrest them along the way, which will reward you with money. A gangster career would work much like the undercover cop career, except that both the other gangs and cops are your enemies. It is about mission-based driving and on-foot action. You are to work for certain groups of gangs and even sometimes for yourself. Going out to kill gangs and certain law enforcers will reward you with money. As a stunt driver, you go work for doing films or just stunts to make money. You will do all kinds of stuff, much like in the Stuntman games. In addition, as a stuntman, when driving about in the city, you'll find ramps to do for extra money. A race driver can either go for street racing or closed-circuit racing with motorbikes and/or cars. Depending on which you pick, the style of racing would be different. However, both cars and motorbikes could exist alongside each other in any of the two styles. You would be able to make money and put pink slips for a race as well as more. Racing will be found throughout different tracks and parts of the city at different times. Those are the only kinds of ways that you can make money from those careers. Boat racing is about having to outrun the competition in jumping ramps, going fast, and doing all your best to reach the finish as soon as possible. It would be much like the arcade boat racing games that you've seen in the past. Off-road racing is about driving off the road with ATVS, cars, and any other vehicles that would fit right in to such a race. This is much like rally racing and just as in Motorstorm, there are variety of different kinds of vehicles that fit right in to such a race. These races aren't as commonly found as that of Street Races or Closed-Circuit Races, but they're still quite popular and able to be around in certain locations of the city. Air show stunt piloting is to be flying around and exciting the crowd. You could choose your aircraft, from biplanes, standard planes, stuntplanes, jets, glider planes, helicopters, etc. While not on a mission, you could freely explore the map. This career happens rarely, but it is a good amount of pay and you can return any time to do another one. Highway patrol officers go about the highway, trying their best to catch criminals, to give people tickets, go to an accident that has happened, or even to arrest people that are on the highway. Demolition derby drivers try to smash each other and for one of them to be victorious by lasting their car in the competition. There are various different tracks found about in the game for you to get a challenge of being a driver for a Destruction Derby. |

Great summary of the different careers AssautMachine1. Hopefully, Reflections and Ubisoft will consider it, as it would take the driving genre to the next level of freedom and action.

Thank you, InsaneDriver06. I'm positive that with more time passing by, they will use their time for making our best wishes come true. This is among the biggest wishes that the most of us here would want to see for the Driver series. It cannot be the ways of GTA or even just the same old Driver forever because those are the factors that Reflections is running out of ideas from and it is then vital for them to take a new approach much like the thought of seeing multiple careers to begin with and which have their own missions and storylines.

Agreed. Innovative gameplay is overdue for the Driver series. The formula of single storyline, free ride and mini games is okay, but it won't offer the replay value possible with a multiple vehicle career mode.
I'd like to have the freedom to create my own character, and play that character throughout every career, but also have the option to change the appearance at any time, while maintaining constantly growing statistics from each career. Careers should also offer great replay value, offering not only missions, but free roam in the career vehicle as well, so if you wanted to perform stunts in front of a crowd as a stuntman, you could at anytime. |

I agree so too. Doing things like catching criminals or killing them as a law enforcer at any time or anything else is what I've mentioned before as the kind of gameplay that we can expect from the careers in the game. And just like before, I want to mention that the different things we find to do based upon the career of ours should make the city feel different in ways that the other careers don't see a similarity. This would make the experience very unique for both the story portion and even the free-roam.

Agreed. Variety is what will make us replay the game, so each career offers an entirely new experience.

The nice thing about this Career Concept in a Driver game is the replay value would increase A LOT, if there was enough variety in each career. Then throw it online, and watch which career gain the most playtime. I'd bet on the following careers in Driver 4 doing the best online:
-Stunt Competitions: Best stunt wins. -Demolition Derby that lasts much longer than what we've seen already. Tougher cars. -Street Racing City Streets and Rural roads. -Formula One Racing/Indy 500 style racing -Nascaar-stock car style Racing (Tanner style) -Sportbike Racing AMA and MotoGP style. Why racing careers? Everybody gets a chance to join in. And offline, the CPU's would fill in the void of other racers for one player games. (Of course Reflections will probably completely ignore this idea.) -------------- Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun... |

If we are going for multiple career path then i would say that it would need to give you the option to work along side the criminal as a way to catch him/her or work along side the cops to catch him/her

I would personally suggest having the extra side missions such as Taxi driver which could lead to you picking someone up who has gangstas chasing him and then that would lead to a big chase scene
and also when you pickup another customer, once you have taken then to their desired location they will say 'I like the way you drive, how about you come over to my place and see how good you really are' or something similar, and that man may own a stunt park or a team in a Nascar style racing event or even my favorite would be if the customer turned out to be the owner of a destruction derby style place which would add all of the best features from the destruction derby series to the Driver series (which i think is needed!!) ------------------------------ AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition ATI RADEON HD 4870 4GB DDR2 RAM MSI K9A2 Platinum 1TB/1000GB Hard Drive space Windows 7 (RTM/Build 7600)x64 |

You don't like the thought of having multiple careers as the biggest roles of the game? I don't like side missions because then they are made to feel of little importance, such that not everyone will want to go through experiencing these careers. Now, if each career has several missions (not in the structure of Midtown Madness, which really does poorly in its voice-acting and overall storylines), with many abilities to use, people to interact with, and more, they'd each feel great for the player to get a hold of. And each career could have a storyline that is inspired by a really good movie that offered a particular career of that kind. For instance, if you're playing as a taxi driver, then the movie which inspired the storyline and the career would be the movie Taxi Driver (starring Robert De Niro, made in 1976), one of the best movies ever in Hollywood history. The storylines would each be smaller than a normal storyline, which you can say offers more than 5 hours of gameplay, to say the least, so these careers would offer about maybe an hour and a half of a storyline, to be made to feel like a movie, except that they'd each be very interactive, and that they'd each allow you choices of different kinds, such that you'd have to play through them several times to see all of their choices. Using inspirations from good movies, having multiple paths for the player, and abilities that are both on-foot and driving (such as talking with people in real-time gameplay, etc.), this game would feel awesome.
Oh, and for the racing aspects, I don't see why we would need a storyline for that since there never was a movie with impressive narrative to show the life of a street racer (TFAF3: Tokyo Drift wasn't a good example of complex narrative). Also, I do think that one of the biggest flaws of today's racing games is that they're all situated in one city, when we can have some racing games take a more traditional arcade feel, which would be for them to offer tracks, and to have each track be full of great variety. Also, the tracks don't necessarily have to be realistic. They just need to have good level designs, and if all goes well, a racing game would end up satisfying the player. With awesome textures in photorealism, and with cel-shaded games drawing nearer to the likes of anime and their art styles (as they would look finely painted by an artist), this is the time for both realistic and imaginative racing to make its way into the world of video games. Burnout, Need For Speed, Midnight Club, Gran Turimso, Forza Motorsport, Project Gotham Racing, and GTR are just too realistic. We need more developers to make both photorealistic and cel-shaded racing games, coupled with fictional or realistic tracks, not only having the realistic driving simulation game offer tracks, but also those games which are more along the lines of arcade games. With that said, I want some unlockable and secret racing tracks that could be obtained from playing the racing careers. It would fit in to make this next Driver game look even more innovative, which is what we really need, from a title of Ubisoft Reflections. |

Yeah, a full game's worth of missions per career. They could have maybe 5 solid careers to start with. First one as Tanner as an undercover cop, second one through five could be any of the above, including racing, vehicle stunts, etc.
Somebody needs to make a game like this if it's not Reflections, with online play. Either play all the missions, or you could just free play, setting up events of your own, or entering online events, but also offer the same events for offline play so when online is no longer available 5 years later, the game's still playable. |

Yeah, I remember this in Midtown Madness 3, we had an option similar to this. Except with only two carrer options.
It would be good to see a wider varity of storylines. The main reasons I don't like the storyline in gta is because your spending around 60 hours completing a storyline and usually you'd do this over a period of 5 weeks during that time you'd forget what happed earlier and the story dosen't make as much sense. Plus! the fact that half the missions don't connect with the storyline very well, they just give a variaty of things to do within missions. I think this is a pretty bad way of doing this, having the option to having different carrers would be a good one. Proably should include: -Undercover Your an Undercover Police Officer -Stuntman Your a stunt driver for the movies. -Taxi Driver You a cabbie for the city. -Race Driver Your a race driver. Each with it's own storyline, prehaps all the storys could have some sort of connection like characters could be used in all the modes during the storyline, giving you the oppotunity to learn about the characters in different situations. |

Here are the cool careers that I want to see in the next Driver game:
*Cop *Undercover cop *Gangster *Firefighter *Ambulance driver *Passenger train driver *Freight train driver *Bus driver *Trucker *Tow truck driver *Taxi driver/cabbie *Delivery driver *Mail driver *Pizza delivery driver *Professional racecar driver *Street racer *Subway or trolley driver (depending on the city the game is set in) *Secret agent *FBI agent *Stuntman This message has been edited. COP CAREER: (Cop Mode)
I'd really want to play the role of a cop on traffic patrol, APB style, where you have access to radar guns, spike strips, locking crooks in the back of the car, high voltage taser, call in for more patrol cars to assist and follow you, arrange five car road blocks, but make it range from standard traffic stops to full on epic scale chases unlike what we've played before. 18 Wheeler Trucker Career: The other careers mentioned would be interesting. I'd like the one to be a trucker, driving 18 wheelers across country on the freeway, managing freeway traffic jams, finding alternate routes, meeting 3 day deadlines, spending half your pay on diesel fill ups, stopping at rest stops to take a break, getting there late and taking the penalty from your pay, unloading the truck, smashing through traffic, like Sega's 18 Wheeler arcade game on the Dreamcast, only much longer and no timer that ends play, but lets you continue, with a penalty. Bus Driver: Drive a whole bunch of people everywhere they don't want to go. Smash through cars, tip the bus over, don't maintain the bus so it breaks down and leaves everyone stranded on the freeway, lol. But I really think the most fun will be had in the faster paced careers, like patrol officer/cop mode, racer of cars/motorcycles in track events, demolition derby/stuntman courses, Undercover Tanner, etc. Now only if Reflections would take some of these suggestions and actually implement them into the new game... Instead of the same old stuff. But we'll see how it turns out. |
