----

I was just walking past a movie on TV and a small car chase caught my eye. There where these people and to get away they jump on a truck, there were about 8 cars chasing so the people on the truck decided to let everything which was on the truck off, pushing them into the people chasing them.

So I decided to take some screenshots.

If your interested the movie is called The Island and you can watch that scene here on YouTube.

This would be great to see in the next driver, with loads of crushing cars, with what's on that very truck. Watching cars get torn into threads, maybe it should be done a little realistic rather than how it is done in the movie but either ways would be great!

How this gets intergreated in the story really depends on the story so I won't say much more. Only if it was in my "Life of Tanner" idea it would be tanner maybe getting way, when he was younger and that was what caused him to want to become an undercover cop because he wanted to get revenge on who was chasing him, and maybe at the end of his life he gets revenge, but some how dies.

Or. You could be someone bad like T.K. chasing them and trying to avoid not getting hit. Either ways would be great to see. Even better in a FMV.

Sorry to burst your bubble, driver_madness, but this isn't the right movie for Driver to look at when trying to do some impressive car chases. Second of all, this movie which you're referring to as The Island has come out already (sometime in 2006) and it has computer-generated imagery, meaning that the car chase was not a real one, which only takes away the fun out of the thrill factor. Movies like Bullitt and The French Connection did the thrill factor of the real car chases so well as a result. Also, I've noticed that most of Michael Bay's movies were terrible ones. His talent, as well as that of the other many film directors today, is just poor. The only good movie of his was The Rock, which got an okay rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I personally enjoyed that film, even if not more than any other action film.

I believe a chase is good when it has high intensity, near misses and plenty of close call moments at a high rate of speed through any challenging environment.

The chase from the island could very well capture those traits, along with "fake" scenes of the speeder bikes from Return of the Jedi, or the Pod Race from Star Wars Phantom Menace, whether you think those movies stink or not.

It's the energy of the chase that matters most, not so much what they're driving.

Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun...

Yes, its the intensity. I wouldn't take anything straight from movie, even Matrix Reloaded highway chase could be fun then, standing on roof, jumping from bridges and shooting cars explode, random set of police, my allies and other gangsters on street. Sounds fun.

FutureVenturer, games are computergenerated, so you won't see any realistic and actually thrilling chases. All you get is "unfun" and "unthrilling" computer chases. Sure, they won't look real, but the idea is the most important, todays movies have good ideas too.

I was talking about movies. Of course, I know that CGI is used in video games. What do you take me for? An idiot? I don't like the fact that movies after the 1980s have been using so much CGI sequences because that takes away too much of the realism. Now if a movie was trying to be a Science fictional one, then I'd understand, but for any other genre (except 3-D films), I have to say that these studios and film directors are making fools of themselves. Where have all the good many ideas gone?

It seems that even film directors who, in the past, were really good, are now seeming to be mediocre. For instance, George Lucas' Star Wars films were spectacular in the 1970s, but waiting 30 years later, and finishing the saga felt a lot less similar and more all about CGI rather than its whole quality. If I was to call any of the new Star Wars movies good, I'd say it would have to be SW EPIII: Revenge of the Sith, since it is the beginning of when Anakin Skywalker chose to become the great and powerful Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

Going back to Driver, I expect the car chases to be able to feel very real. I really don't care if we won't see any other vehicles to drive other than cars. If we can still ride trains that operate by themselves and get around a city that way, then I'll say its enough for me. As far as I'm concerned, we need a racing wheel add-on for this next game. If we can have several accessories, maybe at least a racing wheel, it would make the experience more fun than if you were just to use a controller. Along with that could come took pads for braking and accelerating as well as a stickshift to change your gears. Bringing some more simulation to the game, for the driving experience, would be a nice feature.
