The physics and everything seem bad in motorcycles.
It's true I can drive and compete in open world, but it gets repetive. Even more in TD because there's nothing besides driving, no huge crashes, no life. GTA provides more to do, but even it becomes meaningless at some point. Good comparison would be driving in TDU and running in Max Payne's mind. Both are very single dimensional, but I really love walking in Max's mind. And Max Payne has more than that. TDU has good points, but it's not for me. That's why I'd like Driver to keep it's story but improve and widen it. |

I see your point. For me, I'd like TDU's vehicle selection and huge open world, but throw in Driver's awesome driving controls, and Tanner storyline as a driver trying to return to car racing or something besides investigating crime all the time. -------------- Next Driver: Interior DASH view, Free Roam TAG MODE chases, Miles of Backroads, Intense Speed-Edge of your seat Action, MAJOR Crash Impacts, day/night cycle, tons of customizable options, lots of stunts, ON FOOT in FPS view/overthe shoulder RE4 style, sportbikes, more car camera views, "Drop a RAMP" Cheat, fun vehicle chases where THE CAR is the Weapon, not a gun... |

No. Driver would look terrible if it decides to make a storyline for a racing game. No sports game, nor any racing game would look good with a storyline centered around a main character. Both genres' main point is to compete, and nothing beyond that matters at all.
The Driver franchise may still likely have a storyline, so I will say that the storyline needs to be involving crime investigations, but this time with it being not focused on a single case. Instead, each mission will be 30 min. or longer (depending on how good you are at playing the game) and will focus on its own case, making the game have around 10 missions or more, of which will develop your main character further and it will bring an intensity in the realism of car chases, weapons, gangs, and more. Everything will feel like it's real, as will the city. If Reflections can't make the missions, storyline, and the city feel alive, there's no telling how wrong everything might turn up. I want an original set of cases & missions, different moods at different points (or different moods to occur, all based on how you approach each situation), choices to make that will form a more non-linear branch for approaching each mission and situation in the game, and fictional characters that really feel alive in terms of personality & their actions (AI will need to be pushed further than ever). In fact, I believe one of the most important things, if not the most important thing of them all, to improve on is the AI. It needs to look very polished at all times. Without it, the enemies will look ridiculous when battling against you, the car chases will feel too old and not realistic nor breathtaking enough as much as the PS3 or Xbox 360 average game can handle, and the city will feel like a mess rather than being closer to a living, breathing city. If Reflections can allow for many different actions for the good & bad guys in the game to perform, both when alive & when dead (different possibilities of dieing should be the case), and combine that with a lot of new abilities for the player (different reasons to explore the world & ways that will keep the replay value up high, not just by the vehicles in the game), the game will be a huge success. Without a lot of different ways to interact (both when doing the storyline, when driving, when on-foot, and when taking a break from the missions), and without any smart artifical intelligence, the game will not seem, by any bit, all the more interesting. Reflections can quite handle the graphics, the glitches, and everything else, but the storyline, the AI, and the variety of abilities must be moved up further to a high degree that will allow for a really solid gaming experience. Yes, improve AI. Make them almost human. Everything tends to become VERY predictable after playing it a few times.

-Improving AI
-Cutting glitches and other not should be to zero -Better on foot and driving core That's the clear top 3 Driver needs next. |

Cutting glitches should be part of every game developer's list as a priority, agreed. I'd like to add: -Expanding the environment far beyond the city with the use of forests, mountains, plains, freeways, rural backroads and more. I really want to take Driver onto dirt roads. |

What do you guys think about the narrative? Would different cases for each mission sound better than having one really repetitive one, much like those of the past Driver games? Personally, I feel that multiple cases would be able to allow for more types of situations, for more emotions coming into play, and it would even help give a better look right into the life of the main character (who he/she is). I think that the missions and the main character's job finally should feel realistic, and with that said, multiple criminals will be taken down, and not all of them will be together in one case. With the missions lasting for a longer period of time, it can really move the story forward more greatly, and it can make up for the lack of quantity of missions that Reflections' talent has always shown (either 40 missions or less have been seen in all Driver games, as opposed to GTA's 60+ missions). Also, more can happen within this alotted time. After all, we don't necessarily need missions all over the place, much like the intention of having so many missions ends up making as a point. Instead, we need some really good plot points, with great moments to remember, going back to play through those same missions, and being able to get them done in more than one way. It'd even be wonderful if you can solve each case in more than one way. What the story needs is to be realistic, open-ended, filled with cases, emotions, life-like characters/enemies, cool vehicles, and the best possible voice-overs and situations to make the story feel remarkable.

Perhaps, that is all about the game however. Story shouldn't be as straightforward Driver has had so far. More like 24, Splinter Cell or The Departed where I actually can think about things and there's multiple tweaks through the story. Not just that is the enemy, that is your friend and you are the good guy, go. The flashback in the beginning of Driver3 was great, but I managed to forgot that setting during the otherwise pretty simple story. I'm pretty open. 1 Straight big story or many small connected cases, perhaps jumping around. As long as it's interesting and exciting. |

I'd like a lot of different missions that are unrelated, almost like being a patrol officer.
Actually, I really hope the game offers COP MODE, the chance to be a regular cop, riding in your cruiser or on your police motorcycle, pulling over speeders, staking out on the interstate, throwing down spike strips for the fun of it, getting into big chases and calling in every available cruiser to assist "OJ freeway chase" style only much faster, arresting thugs and throwing them into the back seat of the cruiser, stuff like that would be a lot of fun. |

I would welcome that as real side mission, but not the main story. More like random crimes in free ride, or missions I can decide to do bethween main story.
À la True Crime Spiderman2 Elder Scrolls. But I want main story to be more like 24 Splinter Cell Halo |

The reason why I'm saying not to focus on only one case for all of the missions to connect to is because there won't be a lot of variety found in doing that. And just because you hear the word "cases," it doesn't mean that it should be something entirely similar to that of TC:LA or TC:NYC. Yes, I do know that, for the side missions, you'd go driving about, looking for criminals to hunt down, but this was done in a simple fashion of a way, and real cases don't work that easily, so I would like to see some very realistic cases, such that take longer than an average crime-related open-ended game would feature, as this can really drive the story forward. Personally, I find it much smarter to have around 10 large, quite non-linear, and well worked on missions than just some random 40 missions of which the writer hasn't given enough time & thought into. Yes, it's true that Rockstar North has had some really talented writers for its recent GTA games (those of the previous generation), such that they allowed for as many as 90 missions or more, which were actually very well done, due to the popular talents that got hired for the voice-acting and everything else that happens in the story of the game. For Reflections, it's not going to be as easy because it likely doesn't get offered as much money as most huge developers would, and by the looks of its recent games, the majority of workers don't trust being part of the company. Therefore, I want Reflections to put together a few realistic cases that all tie into the main storyline, helping to bring mood, action, and the best acting you'd ever expect from a game, but not something that comes from cut scenes.
The side missions can be more simple law enforcement jobs, much like some roles as InsaneDriver06 had point out about the feature "Cop mode." Anyways, I feel that it makes a lot more sense for Driver to relate to a True Crime game than to a GTA game. Also, what I'm expecting from the next Driver game is not a ton of variety in the storyline, but at least a very polished one, as the AI, memorable moments, and some good voice acting can help make possible. Story is fine, but gets old after awhile. Gameplay on the other hand has the chance to offer something new each time played. Driver 4 needs some of the best chases EVER put to a video game screen, that aren't repetitive every time out.
That's how sharp the AI needs to be. Spontaneous yet aggressive and intelligent, with a similar vehicle that's not super powered, but realistic in taking damage. |

Okay. Since I've been wasting quite a number of minutes per day, just to post ideas, I'll make this my last post. I don't figure that I'll be spending a lot of time on one genre, so I won't get to GTA IV (probably) and I don't feel that I'll get to the new Driver either. Understanding the many video game genres is a goal that I wish to pursue and doing other things besides that just feels like a waste of time, so I'm going to put an end to all of this. Yes, I do realize that Reflections needs to work harder (otherwise it's going to fail again) and I wish its workers good luck, such that they'll be able to take our many comments & suggestions into hand and finally realize what needs to be done to solve their many problems with game development.
Reflections needs to do whatever it can to make the story interesting, and, at the same time, to deliver the best quality possible. This is perhaps the most easy thing to have Reflections keep in mind when working on the next Driver game to ensure that everything will go well. i think that all that this game needs the devs to focus on (in terms of this topic) is the story line and i think the narration is a great thing to have in a great storyline
look at the move the buisness now you hear Danny dyer narrating what is going on from his point of view, and i think that makes you feel that it is you being spoken to, and that is always good because it makes you feel much more that you are involved in the storyline ------------------------------ AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition ATI RADEON HD 4870 *NEW!* 4GB DDR2 1066MHz 1TB/1000GB Hard Drive space Vista Home Premium x64 |

Reflections, "Make a great story", not that such a suggestion will actually help them.
As a start, make a story that keeps the vehicle more important than being on foot. A storyline that NEEDS the vehicle throughout each mission, and I think you'll stay true to what Driver is really all about. |
