The same man behind the upcoming game The Outsider, David Braben, has mentioned recently that he is thinking of making Elite 4 available on current-gen consoles. There wasn't a platform mentioned, however.

He says Elite 4 will be "very, very deep and dark," which hopefully is talking about the gameplay rather than the remaining project plan. And of course, he's promised to release Elite 4 sometime after The Outsider.

I might consider picking both of these games up, knowing that they both offer some type of non-linearity (Elite 4 will likely have open-world gameplay and The Outsider will have non-linear narrative), that is if they ever do come out.
