This week I've mostly been playing the mission for today campaign called 'For Good Pilots' but am now completely stuck on one mission.

How can I get a P-38L from 10k metres down to the airfield in two minutes? I have tried using trim to pull out of 700kmph dives and once got on the landing approach before the 2 minutes were up and the mission was failed.
Has anyone on this forum done that particular challenge and would like to share your wisdom?

Don't know maybe it's a crazy mental trick mission.
Just try to lawn dart it at full speed.
Bail out before that of course.

I'll search for the mission I'm curious. Smile

I'm not a good pilot and I didn't try that mission, but in the L you have dive brake to keep your speed in check for the fast descent. Dive brake and a lot of rudder can really bleed that speed in the step dive.

Yeah the chimneys are crazy Smile

As for the 2 minute descent ... have not tried it, but maybe air brakes plus slip (crossed controls)to wipe off speed at last minute

In IL2 -- prop speed 100%, power to idle, open the rads, air brake and 6G descending turn will burn E like nuthin.

When people take a plane out to see what it can do they really find what they can do with it.

Man this is great fun, I managed to finish the bridge mission from the third try, also landed on the carrier with a loaded Corsair from the first try without externals, and I only like landed on a carrier maybe 5 times in this game overall Big Grin

Trying to land a hellcat out of fuel on a carrier now, I always get there too fast though.

Haha... at first I thought I had to actually fly under the bridge , of course end up in dirt every time. When I realized I had to land & taxi thru it, managed it in few tries.
Corsair wasn't a problem Smile , I landed Hellcat in 1st try however without gears I caught the wire to high and just landed vertically from 2-3m on carrier deck (gears broke).
But hey... someone here said that every landing you can walk away from is a good one Big Grin .

Anyhow... I'm in the 5th mission, J8A.

What.an.insanity.

It is very fun mission... it isn't even hard, doable at 1st try probably. But I'm stuck at it cursed with bad luck!
Enemy chase me around these "pipes" and whenever they hit one "pipe" the blast from their explosion got me too .

Much fun!

Landing under the bridges never even crossed my mind, I just got through them Big Grin It's better to stay close to the bridges than close to the deck, after trying it a few more times I see most of my failures are because my prop hits the deck.

Ah... now stuck at P-47 dead stick landing.
I manage to overshoot the beginning of the runway, but my speed is around 150mph and somehow I always explode when touch the runway.
I'll try it couple more times.

Haha.... just landed at the end of the runway (managed not to explode) and the campaign didn't "recognized" it as "Mission Completed".
Jeez, I really hate when game does that.

Getting the B25 down and then up again was good fun Smile

They seem to be getting easier as I go along though... or maybe I'm getting better?!?! Wink

Just had to escort the B24's... still not really sure what you had to do on that one lol

This is a laugh. I'm absolutely terrible, except for the landing the Corsair one which I did first attempt. Great fun to try though. I'm currently stuck on chimney hell. Man those Ace Gladiators can shoot. Their secondary explosions take me out a lot, too.

Just restarted the campaign and boy I hate that smokestack mission. Died 10 times, mostly because the other planes exploding around me blew me up as well.

P-47 landing is pretty easy, set prop pitch to 0% and glide with around 260km/h and you should have no problem.
