I am on the dogfight servers, though not so much lately. I'm surprised I hardly ever see anyone from the forums.
There are certainly hundreds of players who never post here.
I think we are a wierd minority, everyone else just gets on with the game.

Time really. Online flying can suck up your time and there`s so much I really still need to achieve. Offline I can tailor my time, Online I can`t.

I`d like to start flying online again (and I might make the odd foray), but it`s now a secondary concern.

Oh, and I fly under a different nick anyway.

I've only recently started going online again.

Airspeed, altitude, or brains; you always need at least two.

I still fly Online, but seldom on Hyper, since the Hack, I fly direct IP with a small circle of old friends, from here and else where.

If I'm really desperate I still fire up Hyper, and look around, mostly looking for some one I know or like enough to spend some time togethere in the virtual sky's.

Time is a premium at my house though, for the last year and half. So time spent here or even playing is short.

I tryed it for about 3 days, couldn't get into it because of the graphics and didn't have the patience to get airborne with it.
Might give it a whirl at some stage again in the future.

I'm on HL every so often, but I am mostly bored with the servers. Same old maps, same old missions, same old etc... Add in the fact that there are about 3 BlitzPigs that still fly the sim and it adds up to not much online for me anymore. I am also tired of all the late war stuff. Really tired of it. A really good early war server would go a long way to seeing EL in the virtual sky more often.

Plus there is simple burn out. I started in December 2001, which means I have more hours than any WW2 vet. Think about that.

I mostly play Silent Hunter IV offline now a days. I enjoy the slower paced "chess match" feel that the game has.

But I won't totally give up IL2, at least until SOW:BoB comes out. Then IL2 will be in the dumpster.

Be sure.

Flying incoqnito gives you sort of peace and more open opportunities.

about this time last year I got a reasonable DSL connection...and tried on-line for the first time at HL
I suck at DF so stayed with Co-ops, and enjoyed some missions with the 99th...and hosted some too...
Then i got a hot new com...and haven't been able to host...couldn't get my ports forwarded...
And about six months ago got into the mods community....and my wife discovered on-line games (Cabal)...so she steals all the bandwidth...

Just too busy .....making a new map of Burma/Thailand/Indo-China....its as frustrating, and fun, as mission building...

Waiting for Orange to change my dial up to broadband. Promised since last november but no response. Like several isps their service is appalling.

Will probably settle for a lan set up with friends when I can afford a second unit if ever.

Life gets more in the way too as you get older.

Meanwhile hundreds more offline missions to fly yet.

Mine is always Xiola, Xiolablue or Xiolablu3, even when messing around.

However if you ever get teamkilled by someone with these names, or someone is abusive , or a pain, then its definitely an imposter and not me.
Its REALLY hot right now in England, so that might explain why there are fewer Brits on.

I know you for around 4 years now, I saw you first on UK_dedicated_1... Smile
At that time I flew under a different nick.

From what I can remember all I can say about your online play is good stuff.

How many servers do you fly on? Usually just a few. So it's easy to miss each other. Even when I played a lot, it was not common to meet anyone from here.

Usually I fly UKD1, which has externals on and cockpit off. I know that many of the popular faces around here wouldn't ever enter that server. So I'm not surprised to actually meet very few.

I thought your regular was Ukded2 mate? Is it just because Ukded1 is busier these days?

Wierd how the 'Skies Of...' servers are really popular with exactly the same settings as Uk1+UK2 but not as well made maps (In my opinion) Perhaps its because they include the well loved rides like SPits, 109's,Fw190's, La's in every map?

UKded servers these days tend to have more maps with obscure planesets because you guys are sick of all the 'usual' rides.
