quote:
The year is 1937, and the world is a dangerous place to be. Tensions between the Industrial and Confederate States of America are steadily rising. Great Britain is expanding her borders, continually putting new fleets out to sea to combat the resurging threat of Piracy. Russia has begun another civil war of it's own, attracting mercenaries and privateer gangs like moths to flame. Pirate gangs roam the world, making travel more dangerous than ever. With the advent of Zeppelins, trade, and with it piracy, have boomed. However, another, more recent, technological marvel is adding a new twist to the old concept of Piracy: The Aircraft Carrier.

Meet Nathaniel Hawkins, Captain of the Sea Dogs, a ragged crew of outlaws, pilots for hire, former squadron members - Otherwise known as pirates. Based from the Gemini Star, a commandeered escort carrier and their headquarters, the Sea Dogs traverse the known corners of the map, raiding, aiding, or working for the highest bidder. Follow their adventures and escapades as they tangle with the Royal Navies of Great Britain, battle over the snowy plains of Russia, and fly the crimson skies over North America.

Just finished the first mission... So I guess I'm stuck with it now, for better or worse Wink2

I'm in! Thumbs Up

A perfect use for the rarely seen biplanes.

I like the skull and crossbones insignia. You should move the wing insignia to the center of the wing...more menacing that way.

Awesome idea, I like it!!!

But you should have the privateers in F4Us. It's only right. Wink2

what about using seaplanes to board enemy Cargo ships?

or to bring good to hidden locations :-)

also, make some strange planes work on the carrier,
hangland have proven that nearly all planes CAN land on a carrier

An original idea....the Sci fi channel will probably make a movie out of it, but you won't get any of the royalties. Hammer

Crimson Skies, anyone? Veryhappy

I jest, although it does have a few similar elements to the story. I can honestly say that when this is released it will be the first alternative history campaign I will have played for IL-2. (who would say no to pirates?)

Aye, one of the main reasons I made this was because I was always interested in the idea of a "realistic" Crimson Skies.

Maybe afterwards I'll do a ninjas campaign! Tongue

Mainly working on skins at the moment. So bloody hard to keep things varied and interesting. *bangs head on keyboard*

This will be well worth a look. Such a fun sounding idea. If you want any ideas about mission design to keep things interesting just give me a PM.

I'll probably take you up on that offer in a day or two, FSM. (If you know what I mean... I am the most uncreative and unoriginal person I know) Wink2

Quick update before sleep: (Yes, even us Kamikaze Pirate-lovers need to sleep)

Self-explanatory

Even pirates get overdosed on rum sometimes Wink2

A W.I.P. pirate seaplane base/port (Emphasis on the WIP, this was taken about 4 hours ago... Meaning that it's got some more stuff added and edited and stuff)

350 views... That's a lot more interest than I thought something like this would get. Surprised

Quick update from the mission I'm workin' on.

omgwtfbbq Blenheim swarm

British Gladiators break to attack.

Pirate seaplanes counterbreak to counterattack the above Gladiators (Amazingly, I found the Glad can keep up with the A6M2-N Surprised)

Sea Haven under British attack

Sea Haven in shambles... Sorta... (I found 4 fuel trucks still sitting happily in a group, amazingly not one bomb or round had touched any of them)

Also, WIP screenshots of a pirate runway/hangar system for said mission:

Not very pretty, but since when did pirates care about that? Wink2
