Hi,

I wanted to map the mouse wheel to elevator trim control - i do not have the extra slider on my stick, so currently the elevator trim is assigned to my jostick throttle slider (I am changing throttle from keyboard, as I find that I play more with trim than speed).

The problem is that whenever I touch the mouse, the view changes - I do not want this as I am already using hat switch for that purpose.

When I reset mouse sensitivity to very low values it works OK'ish (in flight) but the problem is the the mouse speed on main menu is also affected - it takes ages to move the cursor on screen.

So is there any solution to have the mouse view disabled in flight but have normal sensitivity otherwise (on the menu screen)?
Or do I just forget it?

Yes there is, it's in the Hotas set up. Left click Elevator Trim then in the selection box move your mouse pointer to that and move the mouse wheel back towards you. (that should give down trim when you move the wheel away, up trim when you move it back). If that is not the way you want it reverse the proceedure. Don't forget to select "Apply". You won't be able to disable the mouse completely because you also need the mouse to control your gunners in bombers etc.

Cheers

Thanks Rick, but I already know how to map the trim to mouse wheel (in hotas section).

What I want to achieve is diable mouse look in flight while retaining mouse usage in the main game menu.

Currently I am flying fighters so do not need the bombers gunners for now. If / when I need them I can always enable the mouse look back, no (provided it is possible of course)?

There is a way but you need New View and it wont always work for modded versions of the game.

You need to down load NewView v33, as i havent figured out how to do it with New View 37, yet.

If thats a rout you want to go, let me know and i will give you further instructions.

This was posted in another thread, you can get it here.

Has directions in english as far as install goes. You really only need to do steps 1 through 3, the rest will depend on your own preferences.

Let me know when your done installing and I'll give you more instructions on getting the mouse view to stay put.

Bill,

Never mind blocking the mouse view now. I have decided to use it for free look (as a lot of folks are doing actually).

Hat switch has found some other uses.

Mind, I am new to the game and still am playing around with the settings to find out what's best for me...

BTW I have downloaded the NewView but have not installed it yet (as I find the in-game mouse look sufficient. Is there any benefit of having NewView as compared to the default in-game mechanism?

Thanks for your help.
