It's a good series. I watched it when it was first broadcast back in the early 90s. Sad to think so many of the pilots interviewed in the show are now gone.

Is this series public domain now?

I got it on DVD for a very affordable $20 Australian.

Great footage, although I felt the narration was a bit gung-ho.

Do lawyers come in your house to look for VCR tapes you recorded of shows on TV? That's about what the rules on servers
that have rules, agreements and punishments amount to with I believe reason and cause due to the law and courts.
You can check it out and find what is done and why or you can take a position based on self-limited ideas and principles.

If it was shown on TV then most servers open to prosecution allow it.

The home VCR was invented in the US but they aren't made here. Know why?

Compared to Wings it's amazingly accurate but then I regard Wings as a kind of a count how many screwups trivia game.

I was laughing in the other thread. This reminds me when someone put on Memphis Belle movie and we had to drink everytime they showed a single engine plane or the guys pulled their oxygen masks off etc . . .

I can only find the DVD's on ebay . . .

Or parts of the series, an not the whole set either used on Amazon.

Amazon says its discontinued . . . UK amazon has it . . . They do have it VHS. I remember that . . . long time ago . . . we had one.

Sucks its only on torrents in its full availability.

This is not the case. If you (and the others here) would only avail yourself of the stone age technology of the newsgroup.

You would be amazed at what you are missing.

There is one fly in that ointment -- most people with broadband net have a provider with lousy to no real usenet coverage.
It runs another $15 to $20 per month (unless you buy 6+ mos at once) for service with even decent retention. How much is
Giganews with postings held for 300-days? I have budget Newshosting at $15 and it's well worth the bucks, faster than my
DSL can rake it in. I remember when Verizon gave a whole 3 months retention on newsgroups how frustrating it was when parts
would drop as you were trying to load a video, and still it was a kick.

You might do a review of the Red Stars series? Not gonna find THAT on the History Channel! Or Unsere Luftwaffe!

- here too. They have a retention of I think over 400 days.

By the by ... I may post this too at the end of November. It looks interesting to me.

They are on youtube

"Over Dieppe, the wing was immediately bounced by a hundred FW 190s and a few Me 109s. I heard Johnson effing and blinding as he broke 610 into a fierce attack. I was hard at it dodging 190s, but I found time to speak sharply to Johnson about his foul language." - WingCo Jaime Jameson 12 Group Spitfire

I agree, much better to buy it on DVD, and suport the prog makers so that they make more.

Thanx a bunch mate, I downloaded them and they were very interesting indeed.

However, one thing that ALWAYS ****es me off is that ALWAYS, in every kind of documentary of WWII aces, they NEVER mention the Finnish aces. I mean, does not the 92 kills of Eino Ilmari Juutilainen count? Does not the amazing statistics of downed airplan in comparison to lost aircraft of the Finnish airforce count one bit? Does not Finland's defence of their country count when the Soviet attacked them unprovoked?

The Finnish/Russian war is indeed a forgotten battle and I think it is a bloody shame.

So approach the media people about it and convince them to make such a show. There are history students in
Finnish Universities, perhaps they can plant the seed?

I think Hungarian, Slovakian, Rumanian etc. together with Soviet ones are even more forgotten... But Eino Juutilainen had 94 victories, 95 if his last victory(a DC-3 or Li-2 over Viipuri(Vyborg)) is counted. Also the most fighter aces in the world compared to the size of the population(5½million now, 3 million during the wars).
