I miss the good old days of Virtual Pilot server

I miss them too mate. First IL2 online experience for me. I got so lost all the time...

Virtual Pilot server was just great. Used fly for miles/hours in my hurri before been shot down or just run out of fuel. Was well chuffed to nurse hurri back to base and land ok a few times

Had a blast yesterday with a few friends, at most we were 16 on the server. Flew first late Fokker (late in comparison to what you may ask hehe) against I16/t18 and Yak 1s, and later B239 ag la5's
They do indeed use 4.09m supported by mod but only former AI planes so it's not a "must" to fly modded.

Fin/Rus war, both Winter War and Continuation War, has one of the most appealing planesets available in IL2 imo.

The name "Finska Viken" is maybe not the best name for the server as it is Swedish and doesn't tell much to an international audience, but in English it is "Finnish Gulf" and they run Fin/Run missions from 40-44 with fr icons (which I turn off btw)

Great fun , highly recommendable with a lot of "old timers" from Virtual Pilot 1 era: good pilots/hard competition and skill
