This looks really nice even though I do prefer stiffer sticks.

So $300 isn't a lot of money these days then!? I feel so old.

I haven't tried it yet by $300 US doesn't seem too much for a FFB stick, a throttle and pedals.

In fact, compared to CH products (which I love), it seems like a bargain.

I've long been wary of Logitech peripherals, as they have mostly fallen into the "cheap, nasty, plastic" category. However, recent experience suggests to me that Logitech have been trading up on the quality & price scale, with good results.

I purchased a G25 racing wheel at the beginning of the year. While not cheap, its by far the best wheel I've tried, with very precise movements (both wheel and pedals), EXCELLENT FFB and a great overall feel. I've had no problems with it, after 6-8 hours of use every week for the last six months.

$97.00 CH Fighterstick Pro
$90.00 CH Throttle Pro
$105.00 CH Pedals.

$292.00 plus shipping.

With the exception of rotaries and FF there's no compelling reason for me to be interested in the G940.

I hope the Logitec succeeds. I, like you, find the MOMO steering wheel I have from them to be a great value and have had it since 2004. Their mice and keyboards have been on my desk since 2002, so I know they are capable of making great stuff. Their Wingmaster Poopie Plus Joysyick (or whatever it's called.... I'm still blocking that memory) lasted 3 months. My friends crapped out too after that long.

LOL.... C'mon man...... Roll Eyes Shady Tongue Wink2 you are talking 7 bucks here.. and the Saitek X-52 Pro & pedals can be had fot $255 so it is in the ball park... If this G940 is as good as it looks, and it sounds like it is from this review, then I say great news.. more options are always better... and for the added features along with the sturdy construction... Winky

I too had the same Logitech experience when I first started simming.. I remember seeing the X-45 going for all of $65 I think it was and I said.. "Pfftt!! I'm not spending that kind of money to play some computer game.. Blink Nuh uh I wound up buying 2 before I wised up..

LMAO!!!! 8 years and about $2500 later Roll Eyes

It looks interesting. No self centering is a problem though. If it's not possible, then that would be a deal killer for me. Rudder pedals look a bit too close for me as well, but that would be something that you wouldn't know until after you got them. I like the spacing on my Saitek pedels, but I guess getting used to a narrower set would be possible. I know that I've flown various light aircraft and sailplanes and didn't have a problem with the different spacing on their rudder pedals.

I hear a lot of you guys talking about the quality of the Logitech sticks, but I gotta tell you, the "Wireless Freedom" stick I used (hard) for about 3 years was problem free for me. It was still working when I retired it in favor of my X-52.

That $292 will last you 10 years though...Logitech would have to change there quality process to match that kind of robustness.

If you shop at the CH Products website:

Fighterstick: USD149.95
Pedals: USD149.95
Pro Throttle: USD149.95

Total: USD449.85 + S&H

Wink

I'm sure you can find cheaper elsewhere, but those are Ch's own prices...

I got mine from Pro Vantage.
Will these Logitec prices be suggested retail or street prices.

I have to say that it does sound sweet out of the box. Jay is right about the CH Pro Throttle's lack of rotaries being its one great failing too.

I see another thread about a possible Saitek FFB HOTAS offering a potential competitor, so maybe there's a chance that CH will enter the fray as well--price war!!!

Of course, this is a niche market, but a few truly good combat flight sims in the next year or so with a sudden uptick in quality controllers can only be a good thing, right?

cheers

Guys,

The G940 "No self centering" statement are a Jay Hall mistake, read this lasts coments in M4T:

quote:

I was wrong about it not being self centering. On the first day I installed the Logitech Gaming Software and rebooted and ended up having the force feedback effects but as I mentioned it did not seem to self center (or self centered 'weakly') and I did not reboot again that day. Not sure I noticed one way or another yesterday but today, I clearly let go of the stick and it self centered just fine. There is tension on the stick from the FFB servos (I am guessing here since I did not disassemble the base to look inside) and I think this was caused on the first day by a little bit of wonkiness between these possible beta drivers and perhaps not rebooting again. (and I will update the original review to note this)

And the information from Logitech_Mark in same thread:

quote:

Centering is accomplished bu force feedback, not springs, and is over-ridden by simulation inputs. Centering force can be forced into a sim, or added when a sim has none.

Hmm, I had an old Logitech FFB stick for years. Huge base using a wire pulley system and loved it, esp. for riding the stall. But I lost the power box when I moved Crying

So I'm interested to see if this holds up to the same quality standards. But I am Very interested. (oh, yeah I always took the gun shake out, too much-tho fun for a bit. Also the release of bombs effect was nice.
